I know this topic has been discussed a lot. I have a very paranoid DH who would like to know if anyone has done this lately. We are currently booked for 2 weeks in July and right now have the 1 day base ticket for week 1. We are planning on upgrading to APs after we get there.

Has anyone used the buy 4 get 3 deal and successfully upgraded to an AP recently?

Thanks in advance!!

I would like to know the answer to this as well. My DH is the same way. We have not yet booked the 4/3 deal, but plan to soon if I can get all the information I need. Do you get a better deal for APs if you add the 7 day non-expire ticket than just the 1 day base ticket? We are Fl. Residents and want to upgrade to APs, but we are trying to figure out the best deal. If I figured it out correctly from what I've read on these boards, we pay: $286.49 (Adult/includes tax) and $249.21 (child/includes tax) for the 7 day non-expire tickets with the 4/3 deal, but if we use the ticket once and then upgrade to Fl. Resident APs, we will get credit for $359.97 (Adult/includes tax) and $322.70 (child/includes tax). We are 2 adults and 1 child. The total for our APs would cost $1101.22 (includes tax). If we have credit for $1042.64, we would only owe $58.58. Since we paid the discount rate of the 4/3 deal of $822.19, that would save us $220.45 on our APs. Can that be right? It sounds too good to be true.

I have another question regarding upgrading tickets. If you want to upgrade the tickets, do you have them removed from your KTTW and have them transferred into paper tickets? We have never done a package deal with Disney before so this is all new to me.

Thank you for any help you can give.

I have not done it under the 4/3 deal—yet. I did just do it in October. Part of my family has one AP renewal rate and the other part a different rate, but that’s a different story. The tickets we upgraded were discounted, heavily discounted. No problem what-so-ever getting full gate value for the tickets. OK, a little problem. But when I pointed out that the CM forgot to bridge the tickets, it was promptly fixed, with their apologies.

The 4/3 discount is just a discount; there is nothing different, amazing or tricky about it. As a matter of fact, except for the no expiration option, it is barely a discount. The tickets I upgraded in October were at a bigger discount than the 4/3 deal.

Gatorchinsky—you have it right. Not too good to be true. You do not need to remove them from your KTTW card, but it is highly recommended if you added the dining plan because dining credits can be temporarily lost by guest relations and cannot be restored until you get back to the resort. Key words are: “temporarily” and “can be”

I did it in January. We had the DDP, so I upgraded on the last day. I had 8-day hopper ticket. It was 200 extra to upgrade to AP. As an FYI, my pass expires the first day I used my park hopper ticket, not the day I upgraded. ie - my first day in the park was 1/24 and I upgraded on 1/31. My pass expires on 1/24.

Also - please bring a photo id with you. I totally forgot and almost didn't get my pass.

Tinkerbell60- I found this information that rt2dz posted somewhere else. It helped me to figure out pricing and what seemed to be the best deal.

I hope this helps.

I am going to book the 4/3 deal and get 7 day non-expire tickets and save $220 on my APs. My DH will be so happy to save the extra $$.

So if I have this right-If I am staying 7 nights I take the 7 night ticket discount? price and that is the value I have towards AP's or do I take the gate value?:confused3

I think it is the gate value, not what you actually paid - which with the 4/3 deal will be less than the gate value.

From what I understand and after reading lots and lots of posts on this subject, if you get the 7 day non-expire ticket with the 4/3 deal, you will get the gate value, not the discounted price you pay, toward any upgrade. You have to use the ticket at least once to get gate value because if you do not use it and go to upgrade, you will only get the discounted price. Always use a ticket at least once and then go upgrade it to get the gate value (and much better deal in this case). I hope that makes sense. After days of searching and reading, it finally makes more sense to me now. I truly hope that when our trip comes that we will have no problems upgrading and that we will get the gate value and not discounted price. I do trust all these posters and I know they know what they are talking about.

Hopefully, as more and more people come back from doing the same thing, they can post their experiences to let us all know how it turned out.

You don't have to get the non-expiring option to upgrade the discount ticket. Any ticket can be upgraded within 14 days of its first use, even if it's totally used up. (And no ticket, including non-expiring, can be upgraded more than 14 days after its first use.)

The 4/3 ticket is just like any other ticket. (My d upgraded hers to park hopper with no issue. Once you've checked in, by the way, each person can upgrade his/her ticket as he/she chooses. You no longer have to keep the same tickets.) In order to get the full gate price for it (so that you get credit for 7, not 4, days), you need to use it first. Then go to Guest Relations and they'll upgrade it for you. If it's to an AP, I'd suggest asking them to remove it from your KTTW card and give you a separate AP. It's easier to keep track of.

You should no difficulties with this.

Take a look at ChesireFigment's sticky at the top of the board: Everything about tickets.

We might do this as we are there for 14 nights in March. The first week we have a 10 day ticket and the second week right now we have a 1 day base ticket. My question is if we upgrade our 10 day ticket toward an AP, can we also apply the 1 day ticket we'll have toward toward it? Thanks!

No, you can only do a one ticket-one ticket swap. You can't put tickets together to get one ticket.

I don't have the math in front of me but I seem to remember I did the math and it worked out better to get a 10 day NE ticket with the 4/3 special and then upgrade this to an AP. But I could be wrong.

does anyone know if you can get the ticket from your second week stay at the time of your first week check in? We are there for 2 weeks under 2 ressies. At checkin the 1st week, would like to get the one day base ticket from the second week to apply toward a WP annual pass. Will they foward this to you since we've already paid in advance for the package or even if we go to the resort or guest services to get it? Otherwise we are paying cash for the WPAP to use over the 2 weeks we are there and wont need the 1 day tix. Saving it doesn't work since it will be awhile again til we use and we even have left overs from last time we had AP and needed to book a package. Thanks!

I just did this two weeks ago - it worked out great for us! We are so excited to have APs now!! :cheer2:

Are you getting tickets with your first reservation? If so, the ticket from the second won't help; you cannot "join" the tickets from the first week to the ticket from the second and use both to upgrade to an AP. It's a one-to-one trade: one MYW ticket for one AP.

No, I'm not combining them. I just want to be able to use the wp during the first week and want to apply the 1day base to that pass. We will be getting regular AP, not premium as we dont want Disney Quest...

Zgirl:
So how are you able to get that ticket before you officially check in?

Can you use your old passes you needed to buy with the last AP package to upgrade? We are going with 4 for 7 in April, and hopefully free dining in August. The first trip is just our immediate family of 4, we have AP's, the second we are bringing 4 of my DDE's friends. Rather then upgrade their one days I think I will do our first trip tickets to avoid any issues with the DDP. (I have read about problems with the plan when the ticket is removed.
