Upgrading 25% off Canadian Ticket to AP - post results please

Can the discounted Canadian Tickets be upgraded to an AP?

Yes

Do you get credited the full USD ticket price on the upgrade?

Depend on what you're asking. Disney will credit you the amount that you paid, they will not credit you face value of the tickets. The only time Disney credits for face value is if they don't know what you paid ie tickets bought from Parksavers or another third-party source.

You can upgrade tickets bought from Disney Travel as part of a package and get the price bridging, but there's no bridging for separate tickets bought directly from Disney, so I'm assuming it would be the same for the discounted Cdn tickets. Yes to bridging if they were bought from a reseller or as part of a package, no if they were purchased separately directly from Disney. Clear as mud, right? :-)

And so, if you purchase from a third party seller, ie CAA, who is selling these discounted Canadian tickets, ...then they can be bridged at face value???

If you by directly from Disney, you get credited for what you pay.

If you bought the tickets as part of a package from Disney, you get a bridged price

If you bought the tickets from a third party, you get a bridged price.

So go buy from CAA.

I don't think this will be the case for these tickets ... this is a picture of what someone received when they purchased it at CAA

You don't get an actual "ticket" and when you exchange this at a ticket booth I would imagine they will know exactly how much you paid.

Thoughts as to how they would know the difference between the Certificate they mail you after you purchase directly, the one you get at CAA or the one you get from Airmiles???

As far as I know, once the certificate is exchanged and you have used the ticket its like any other ticket. I have two linked to me profile right now and they just say 4 day ticket with 1 park per day.

Not sure why anyone would expect to be allowed to upgrade to annuals and receive 25% more towards those than paid??

Disney gives full credit when doing ticket upgrades (adding days for instance), for tickets sold through discount ticket re-sellers, which has been referred to here as "bridging". The issue here is Disney only bridges the discount tickets, but not tickets sold directly from Disney. The outstanding issue is whether these 25% discount tickets are Disney direct sold tickets, or re-seller discount tickets, seeing how they are sold through CAA.

I suspect they will be considered Disney direct sold.

Happy travels.

Well, a couple of reasons -
If it has been a past accepted practice of Disney to bridge 3rd party tickets, then why would a person choose NOT to save money?

Secondly I am more personally interested about bridging regarding adding actually a single day or two to my existing ticket. You see, I always try to buy no more days then I need for my trip. We stay for a week to 10 days. But if some, or all of my party want to go in for another day or two (Would buy a 5 day ticket), then I just purchase it for who needs it. Mickey always lets you add on, but never subtract once you use your ticket. This is much easier to figure out when we are at Disney due to weather and health, and a whole slew of factors.

If bridging is allowed, then I will purchase my five days. If bridging is not allowed, I am going to have to figure out which kid needs how many days. And, it may influence my decision to buy a double set, because we will likely go at least twice in the next 5 years, and then one adds the savings factor of they yearly increases.

Yup, if we can save money why not, BUT i'm with @Rileygirl in the highlighted section; not even really concerned about the dollar value being allowed but will they even allow is to add extra days, hoppers to the ones Airmiles is sending out now, or even upgrade to an AP if i decide i want that many more days. This trip will be almost a full 3 weeks and the tickets are only good for 14 days once activated so i *might* want to be able to choose which days i will go to a park and not be worried if my ticket is still good.

So for me, I'd just really like a simple answer to what most of us *think* is a simple question, Can these tickets be upgraded or not??? Does anyone know who we might be able to tag that could help us with this question? On-line chat has no idea and neither did anyone i spoke to on the phone.

Now I am thinking of buying the tickets from CAA. Can I get the park hopper added to the Cdn discounted tickets if I buy from CAA? I will try to upgrade to AP when I get to WDW. If I can bridge the ticket, I would upgrade. If not, I am ok too. I just think it is great savings if I can bridge to AP for free Memory Maker and dining discounts. But I have to make sure to buy park hopper tickets just in case if it can't be bridged. Does anyone know? TIA!

I asked someone who belongs to the disboards who also works at Disney in guest services (currently). They have not dealt with this ticket firsthand as of yet, with someone looking to upgrade it.

This ticket may be a slightly different beast then a typical third party vendor type ticket as it's a 'special promotion'. They do not think you will be able to price bridge an upgrade, indeed the jury is out as to whether or not you can upgrade the ticket, maybe only to an annual pass. They said there is a little conflicting info at 'training' and with supervisors.

I think we will not definitively know unless someone reports back with their personal experience, hopefully that will happen before the promotion ends ( and hey, I'm an optimist, after our Canadian dollar has gained some ground!)

Does anyone know if you can add the park hopper option for DW passes/certificates bought from Airmiles? We're looking at getting 5 of the 5 day passes from Airmiles, but would like to add on the park hopper option. Thanks!

Yes you can.

I'm not sure if you saw the first hand report in the other thread so i've copied it here for you @ABCanada
Hi All,
I just returned from WDW on November 20th - so I have some answers to the Canadian Discounted tickets.
I personally purchased the tickets via WDW website. The tickets were automatically linked to my MDE account and I was able to make FastPass selection right away since I was staying on site and it was less than 60 days out.
I was able to upgrade the tickets to an annual pass. This was done at the ticket booth at the International Gateway at Epcot. When I showed the print out (voucher), passport and credit card that used to initially purchase the ticket - the cast member did not seem too concern??? She was going to give me a separate admission ticket (the plastic card) but then I showed her that I had magic band that was nixed. Upgrading to the annual pass was easy - but they did not bridged the price.
If there is anything else I can answer - please ask away!
