"Upgrades"???

1st Time Cruisers here. What does it mean when people get upgraded? We are in a category 5, Deck 7 stateroom. Does that mean we could get upgraded too, or is that usually just for people in the lower categories?

Very Very few people are lucky to get an upgrade.. There is absolutely no ryhme or reason for it...If the pixie dust shines on you, then it does..

Some people think that if they book guarantee status they are more likely to have an upgrade..People have studied it, and studied it, and there really is no "set" reason....

PURE LUCK...Book the category you will be satisfied sailing in, and if an upgrade were to occur, then fantastic, if not, still good...



By the way Deck 7 is my favorite..

What exactly does "guaranteed status" or "GTY" mean? I just assumed that if I book at Cat 10 because it's available at my time of booking, then that's what I get (unless one of those few surprise upgrades happened).

So much to learn here ... good thing I can't afford to go cruisin' anytime soon!

Hi, sometimes when they have booked their maximum amount of rooms in a certain category, they will continue booking that category, but in a guarantee status.

So, for ex, if you booked a cat 6 guarantee, then you are guaranteed that category of higher...SO, you will not get a room number right away, you must wait...
