Upgrades at port

What are the chances of getting a room upgrade at port at check in? If you have had the chance to get an upgrade what are the costs to do so? We are hoping for an upgrade for our 25th anniversary cruise coming up.

If there are rooms available there may be upgrades available at the port. Doesn't happen a lot, but it does happen.

The pricing for upgrades at the port is a dark secret kept by DCL, but they have a chart they consult. The take the room you currently have and see what the difference in price that you've already paid to the price for the upgraded room is. At the port the prices are lower than if you upgraded the day before the cruise directly with DCL.

4K's, totally agree with Shmoo. From what I had learned on this forum, on a cruise a couple of years ago on the Dream, we got to the Port relatively early and I headed straight for the Supervisor Desk after checking in to see what upgrades might be available. (it was a 4 night in February with our little princesses) I had booked an Ocean View on my DVC points. Upon checking I found out we could upgrade to a Cat 4 (don't recall exactly WHICH Cat 4 but we were midship Deck 7 I think in that Cat 4) for close to $400 for the 4 of us total. It may have been a little less than that but for the extra room with the girls we decided to take it and were quite happy we did. The supervisor did have a chart she consulted that showed what the upgrade from our Cat 9 to a Cat 4 would cost. I watched her look at it to see.

Like Shmoo said, availability for upgrades is going to vary widely cruise to cruise. Just try to get to the Port pretty early, check in and go see what they have!
