Upgrades at Polynesian?

We will be at the Polynesian from Sept 27 - Oct 4, and we have a garden view right now. We would love to have a view of the Magi Kingdom, and possibly be as close to the monorail as possible. Is there such a room, longhouse? What if any is the appropriate way to go about seeing if a free upgrade is possible?? I don't know how to go about asking or should I just take what I have??

How funny, we're going to be at the Poly on the exact same dates!!! I'm so excited to be going again.

I just faxed my room requests a few days ago. I don't know of any particular room but looked at the map and took my best quess for what I wanted. I wanted to be near the volcano pool so I asked for the Samoa. I put my requests in order of priority. 1, 2. and 3.

I hope they honor the request as the last three times I've stayed at DW I just took what I got and was very happy with it.

We just got back from the Poly and alot of the buidings are still closed for renovations. I'm not sure when they will re-open. This means that there are not a lot of rooms left un-booked for them to upgrade you to. It never hurts to ask though. I think the only Lagoon view buildings open are Aerotola (sp?), which is right next to the GCH and Tahiti which is the farthest from the GCH. I don't think Tuvalo was open when we were there last week. Don't worry if you don't get a LV room, it is just as nice to just sit down at the beach to watch the fireworks and ELP.

If you want to be near the GCH then Raratonga is the place to be. If you want a MK view then you are pretty much looking at a lagoon view upgrade. I highly doubt you'd get one, free or paying, as the Poly is booked up. I've been to the Poly 7 times and have never gotten an upgrade though I do not ask.

I wouldn't bother faxing requests. From what I've read on here and other places, they pretty much ignore/trash faxed requests now and favor requests made with the ressies or made upon check-in.

We'll be down there at roughly the same time, and paid for a GV room. You'd be hard pressed to find a garden view room with a view of MK. To see MK, you almost have to be able to see the lagoon. I'm not saying there aren't a few GV rooms with an MK view, but they wouldn't be anything like what you'd get with LV. An upgrade to LV is unlikely, notwithstanding all the posts on here by people with their upgrades. I just don't think it happens as often as these boards might lead you to believe. Given the price difference between LV and GV, I just wouldn't count on it happening.
