What are the chances of getting an upgrade at OKW ?? We're staying in a studio which will be very nice but would sure be nice to get an upgrade to 1br. Anyone ever gotten an upgrade ?

Thanks all :flower:

Are you paying cash or points? Either way, it's a very slim chance. Most of the upgrades DVC members hear about are because rooms are taken out of service due because of maintenance issues like water problems, something being broken, etc. If you're going on points, out of service rooms would be your only real chance of getting a free upgrade. If you're paying cash, I'd still doubt it, but it never hurts to ask.

We've never asked for an upgrade and have never received one. But even the studios at OKW are great. Much roomier than other resorts. Just having the balcony makes a big difference.

We've never had an upgrade in 13 years of going there, but we never thought to ask, either. It never hurts to try!

If you've booked cash via CRO then you have a very SLIM chance of an upgrade if it's a slower time of year but I wouldn't count on it. If you've booked on pts I'd totally forget the idea. Because DVC is a type of timeshare, it's designed to be at occupancy or have the rooms available for the members. The few upgrades I've heard of occurring on pts have always been due to a room in any particular catagory having to be pulled out of service because of maintance problems and the resort being too full to keep them in the same room catogory.

never gotten once at a DVC resort using points.

have gotten one at the Polyn, Cont and PO.

I was upgraded from a studio to a 1 bedroom in May 2002. We were not using our points, however.

Last year a friend let us use her time share with Interval, and we actually got a spot in Old Key West. It was suppose to be a 2 bed, however, when we arrived, were given a studio because of a hhhhuuuggge mistake through Interval.

We were highly upset, and spent the night, but went through 4 different managers, and a miserable first day, until finally we were given the 2 bedroom by the last manager. Great room by the way!

My In laws were coming on the 3rd day, thus the reason for the 2 bed.

OKW was at about 80% capacity, so that may have been the initial problem, but as for the word "upgrades" or "invitational upgrade", no one seemed to know what I was talking about, and denied of hearing such a thing, despite what I've read.

Has anyone ever received an upgrade at a non DVC resort when using points? I would hope DVC members would get the same perks as cash patrons.

We stayed at BC (pre-BCV's) and CBR 1 week each a few yrs back when we booked very last minute and did not receive an upgrade but I can say that you do indeed get the same perks cash guests get -- daily mousekeeping and all AND they did seem to put us in the nicest level of rooms. We had a king bed room with a nice size balcony at BC on the 4th floor and a waterview room and nice location at CBR. So they may not give an upgrade but will try and get you the nicest accommodations for the catagory you book with your points.

In 2002, before becoming DVC members, we received an upgrade to a 1-Bedroom from studio (it was during high season, July 4th). The 1-bedroom was a handicapped, but no big deal to us.
