Upgraded to conceirge at WL

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to say that we had extremely good luck on our trip. We arrived at the Wilderness Lodge on June 5 and were very surprised to find out that we were upgraded for free to conceirge level after booking a standard room. We were actually going to ask to pay for an upgrade but they told us it was our lucky day. The conceirge floor was wonderful. It was so nice at 5:00 to walk down to the lounge and get a glass of wine and some food and relax before going out. My 2 year old love coming back and getting some dessert to bring to the room. My husband and I would get our drinks and sit on the balcony while the kids relaxed. The best part was our room had a direct view of the castle so we sat back and watched the fireworks every night. Since we were traveling with a 2 year old and 1 year old it was a nice way to end the night. They do get you though because I think I would have to stay there again

we were in #7052. We have no idea why we got upgraded. WE really just lucked out I guess. They were working on the lounge. I guess they hope to be ready soon. The CMs were telling us that next year they are doing the whole hotel over and upgrading all of the bathrooms and some of the decor. It was a great place to stay

You are so right about that. When we first stayed at Wilderness Lodge we were upgraded from woods view to concierge. We had a wonderful time. We have booked concierge there now the last two years. My dh doesn't want to stay any other way. The CM's know exactly what they're doing with those free upgrades I'm glad you had a wonderful time. We will be headed there in 12 days. I'm also glad to hear about a possible rehab next year.

I am going at the end of August. This will be my 3rd stay at the WL and 7th trip to WDW. I wonder how they decide to upgrade people. I am hoping we can be upgraded to a junior suite or concierge. I have a daughter who is mildly autistic and I took her and my other daughter by myself (wife stayed home with infant son) to the Contemporary for 4 nights. My travel agent had informed them of my daughters condition and they were very nice and upgraded us to the tower. It was great and she loved it.

Is it possible they look at your credit limit and think "gee, Mr. Smith could easily afford concierge. let's give him an upgrade and get him hooked!"?

Hi the lounge was coming along when we were there. I think I heard that someone thought it would be ready by the end of the month. The food offerings were very good.

Breakfast : croissants, bagels, muffins, danish, fruit, cereal, coffee, juice etc.

Snacks: pretzels, cookies, gummi bears, ice tea and lemonade, coffee, bottled water

Evening : one entree: one night they had pork another night they had pasta with chicken. I'm not sure what they served the other nights since we were out. They had Veg. soup. Cheese, crackers, crustables for the kids, roasted red pepper dip they served with bread that was so good, veggies and bleu cheese dressing. Wine and Beer

Dessert: cookies, brownies, dessert bars, one featured dessert either a fruit cobbler or apple crisp. Cordials and Wine.

I might be missing a few things but everything was very good and the staff was very nice. I think it will be really nice when the new lounge is ready. But they definitely had me hooked. My husband and I will be booking conceirge level next time either at the WL again or the YC/BC. The WL is perfect for us now with the young kids. We couldn't ask for a better location.

Wow, that sounds great! I wish they had Junior Suites/Deluxe Rooms on the Conceirge floor. We'd certainly be interested. But I'd hate to give up the separate bedroom/living room. It's so great to be able to put our DS to bed and then stay up and relax. When I see all these other families keeping young kids up until 11 or 12... then it's no wonder they have to drag them around by the scruff of their necks the next day!

We loved the WL two years ago when our DS was 4 1/2 and booked again for August. As far as we could tell, no other deluxe resort has anything similar to the junior suite. And by similar I mean not those regular suites which are $1,000 or so per night. That, to us, is NOT similar!

But boy, conceirge does seem like a great feature! Congrats on the free upgrade!!

We were there in late May...and received the free upgrade to concierge as well! Definately an awesome addition to our vacation! We had room 7047 and could see out into the pool and lake. The imported beers and wine was great! One of the entrees we had was beef tips w/wild rice and it was sooo yummy!
I would love to stay there again!

We go to WL next month and we are so excited!
