Just wondering if anyone has been upgraded to a better room? If so what did you do to get upgraded--just ask? We are going to be staying at Port Orleans Riverside.

While I've never been upgraded, I've read of many people that have. You shouldn't ask. Most people that are upgraded are surprised by it. I've heard that CM's are less likely to grant upgrades if you ask.

Upgrades are not common, and are purely the luck of the draw. There's really nothing you can do to increase your chances of getting one, as most are done for the resort's operational needs and are assigned before you arrive.

If you ask for an upgrade, the CM will assume you'll be paying for it. If you specify that you want the upgrade without paying, it puts the CM in a terribly awkward position, and I've seen numerous posts from CMs saying that it virtually guarantees that you won't get a complimentary upgrade even if one is available.

In December 2007 my family and I got upgraded from a Garden View - Club Level room to a Lagoon View - Club Level room at the Polynesian. The upgrade was something we were not thinking was going to happen, however I say if there is a specific room type you want then try to make a reservation for it. This way you won't be disappointed at check-in if you don't get an upgrade. Plus the Cast Member at check-in won't know you got upgraded until he or she enters your name into the computer, so that is when they would know themselves.

Yes, numerous times. The first time we stayed at CR we booked garden view and were upgraded to a tower room with a view of the castle (something I would NEVER pay for); and we've been upgraded to a water view at the CSR numerous times and to a suite this past September (we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary)--also at the CSR.

We got upgraded from standard view to water view at the Yacht Club- and let me tell you- I'd never go back to a standard view again!!!!

On our first stay at Wilderness Lodge we were upgraded from a Standard room to Club Level. On our visit last July to the Yacht Club we were upgraded from Standard room to Club Level. Both times it was a total surprise. And both stays were awesome. Actually all of our stays, whether we were upgraded or not, were awesome.:)
