This is the info given in the FAQ of Disney's Give a Day site:

May I upgrade my free one day ticket to an Annual Pass or multi-day ticket?

Yes, you may upgrade the free ticket to another ticket type of greater value within the applicable upgrade window. However, you are responsible for the incremental cost and the new ticket may only be used by you. No changes or refunds will be given. The value of the free ticket may not be used to combine or upgrade with a separate single or multi-day ticket.

Has anyone actually tried to upgrade these tickets? Do they just subtract the $79 one day cost from a multi-day ticket. We are hoping to go this summer and I was just wondering if a 5 day ticket (value at $228) could be purchased for $149 with the voucher at the ticket window.

You've got it right. You have to use the GAD ticket, then go into guest services inside the park and upgrade it. :thumbsup2

thank you for this tip. i was thinking of getting a couple of days worth of no-expiration passes for this trip and next. $79 off a person would certainly shave off some $$$.

Would the upgrade have to be done at guest services in the park or could it be done at a Disney store where they sell park tickets? :flower3:

Good question and I hope someone knows the answer.... I'm guessing it would have to be done in the parks. But $79.00 off a Multi-day would really help!!! interested to hear if anyone has done this.....

It has to be done at the parks because the voucher has to be used the day it is converted to a ticket.

From what I have read you first have to get the GAD and use it then do the upgrade. So the timer starts right away.

I think I've read this too. I think you have to get the GAD ticket from Will Call before you enter the park. Then enter the park on the GAD ticket and sometime within 14 days, go to Guest Services and upgrade the ticket to a multi-day.

We're signed up to make blankets for project linus. With 6 of us, it will save quite a bit of money. And the kids are excited about the blanket project.

So what about if you want to use this for a package deal (room, tickets, dining) Does this take off $79 from that also?:confused3

No it does not. You can't do a package deal with this unless you purchased a 1 day ticket just to get dining and then used both the one day ticket and the GAD ticket to upgrade to length of stay tickets at the park. But it won't just automatically take money off your bill.

I was planning on upgrading our GAD tickets at the park when we arrive as it will save us about $170 on park tickets alone.
But When I go online to look at the ressie's it will change our ressie to the 30% off deal but I can't drop our tickets with the Gift Card deal.
IF we do drop our park tickets we'll have to buy DD4 tickets at the gate. Does anyone have any suggestions on Undercover tourist or another ticket selling site? I'd like to try and save as much as possible. BUT when I tell DH that by doing all of this we'll save about $168.00 he just gives me this look like, Is it really worth all of the work.
I, on the otherhand am a true believer in saving as much as possible.

I thought it said you cannot combine the GAD with Any other ticket. Is this correct or incorrect?
I bought the 1 day to add on the dining (but have some left over non expires from last year)...I'd save some of those (i think) I am so confused at this point.:rotfl2:
Can you help or can anyone, TIA!:flower3:

1. The GAD ticket can be upgraded to a multi day ticket. To do this you will need to redeem your vouchers at the park, use the ticket to enter the park (the ticket HAS to be used THAT day), and then you can upgrade the ticket within 14 days of that first use.

2. You can only use 1 ticket per upgrade. If you use the GAD ticket, then you will not be able to use any other ticket. It is 1 for 1.

3. The GAD voucher can not be used as your "ticket" for a package reservation. You will still need to buy a ticket of some sort. The GAD voucher is just that... a voucher. It is not a ticket until you print it and trade it in at the parks. My suggestion is to use your GAD voucher and then upgrade it... saving the 1 day ticket on your package for another trip.

4. Remember to bring ID when you redeem your GAD voucher. The name on the ID and the name on the voucher must match. If you have children then they will also have to have some form of ID, though a Birth Certificate will do.

Does this mean that we can not do the upgrade at our resort?

You can downgrade to just 1-day park tickets with your package to keep the Gift Card deal, then save those tickets for another trip. Or have DD4 use her 1-day ticket, then upgrade it to a multi-day at Guest Services.

If you decide to drop the tickets altogether, Undercover Tourist is good. I've bought from them before and didn't have any issues. Also if you sign up for the Mousesavers.com newsletter there is a link for an additional discount. The newsletter comes out on the 15th of every month.

Yes sorry...I wasn't clear. I thought they only had one person in the party with the GAD ticket since they said a $79 credit. I figured the other members of the party could upgrade their one day tickets and then the person with the GAD ticket could save their's for a future trip.

You can't combine the gift card offer and the GAD offer. The gift card offer requires length of stay tickets to be purchased. You have to figure out if the room code offer combined with the GAD ticket credit is a better savings for your family than the gift card offer.

So if we use our GAD voucher on day 1 and want to park hop on day 1, we will need to upgrade to multi-day park hoppers before leaving park #1, right? ... preferably as soon as we enter park #1, so I don't stress over it, lol. thanks, tink
