Hi All -
Some of you know my long sad story and some don't, in any case, that old WDW magic was at it again tonite when I called for a last-minute package!

:scared1: I was getting heart failure as the CM quoted the full 10 days MYW with DDP at WL. Then tried a split stay between POFQ and WL. THEN she said the computer spit out an amazing upgrade to Yacht Club. "SOLD!" I said. Never dreamed we would be able to stay there!

Have to do lots of studying now, because in all of our trips I have never finished International showcase and never even been to any of the Epcot resorts or restaurants. DD is worried the resort might be too "stuffy" and that we will be soooo far from MK. DS is thrilled because he loves Epcot and is just getting into more adventurous dining.

For those in the know, any thoughts/recommendations/hints? YOUR favorite places?

There are some great threads here and I will do all my research, but though I'm excited getting such an awesome and unexpected load of pixie dust, new things always are challenging for me. I'm a widowed mom of 2 and WDW is the one place that always has been able to meet my family's needs and provide a truly magical vacation.

Guess I just need some reassurance.. TIA

Just think...Stormalong Bay!!!!

Congrats!!! I love the Epcot Resort Area...It is wonderful...

We stayed at the YC a couple of years ago. We chose it mostly because our son wanted to stay near Epcot (his favorite).

Well, we ended up loving the place. It is now our favorite. Wish we could afford to stay there on every trip!! That was our only problem, we were too spoiled!!!

We didn't find it stuffy at all. We're just "regular folks" and thought the entire resort was nice and welcoming.

Congrats to you melomouse! pixiedust: Good things happen to good people...I can tell you are a good person by your siggy!;)

I think I can put a link to my post about the YC, right here...

I hope it works! We are just back from the YC and had a wonderful stay! That neighborhood...YC, BC, and BWI are my family's favorite and mine too! You will love it! If you have any other questions...ask away!:thumbsup2

You will love SAB! We really liked that we could walk over to Epcot and not worry about taking the buses.(we love Epcot also!). It is a quick boat ride over to MGM also.

Before we stayed there, we got the impression it was going to be "stuffy" as your DD pointed out. Upon Check in our First time at YC we were sorely mistaken!! We totally feel in love with BC & YC, theres an amazing pool. A HUGE pool i might add! and really fun activities, walk on over to the BWI at night its a great atmosphere with amazing entertainment.( we love the hair wraps, Surrys(A MUST, dont care what you do, you MUST rent a SURRY!!!!  ) there is a magician and some kind of comedy act, I cant think of the name but there are 2 or 3 guys and they are a riot!) plus Boardwalk bakery is to DIE for, Screen door general store has great stuff. I love the gift shops!! lol Spoodles is great to, and so is the Cape May Character breakfast!!

Can you tell love the Epcot resorts??

They are in a great spot, you can walk or take a boat to Epcot or MGM. Really nice view of the fireworks from Epcot too!!

I almost wish we were staying there this time around again but DH2B insisted on trying out a new hotel ( we all know how that worked out :rotfl: AKL kicked us out :rotfl: Now were staying at SSR which is as fin to me:cloud9: ) Enjoy your Vacation!!

I thjink YC is the only deluxe we've never tried, so consider yourself lucky:thumbsup2 The Epcot resort area is terrific. You will have a great trip.:earsboy:

I knew my DIS friends would be the only ones who would appreciate what an awesome gift we got and also provide the encouragement to enjoy something new!
As I number crunch, I realize we got YC for somewhere between the price of POFQ and WL - if I deduct the DDP and MYW tix - I am still reeling!!!
Sazzo's mom - Thanks:grouphug: - the link worked and helped lots! And such kind words..
Dabs - our dates are 8/16-8/26. I wanted to be out of there before free dining starts. We did it last year and tho we loved FDP, it was crazy...
And now... to rebook my air (I cancelled our cruise to got to WDW!!) without eating up most of the savings!!!LOL!
Thanks again!!! I love the DIS!!

Melomouse,

Looks like you'll be there the same time as us. We are trying the YC for the first time. The deal was just too good to pass on. DD8 is practically drooling over the pics of SAB.

Good luck in your planning and maybe we'll see you around the pool.

How could you not be happy?! :) This is a dream resort for many...according to what I have read here on the boards anyway....

Have a great time!!!

I wouldn't worry about it being "stuffy". Yes, the pictures make it look that way, but then Disney has to try to justify the added cost! People of all kinds stay there, so I am sure that there will be lots of "unstuffy" people such as yourself there too. The kids will love Storm-a-long Bay! And your DS will love being so close to Epcot.

FYI - if the system still works the way it did when I worked there 10 years ago (even if the system is different) Anyone else who calls and tries to book a moderate around the same dates will be offered an upgrade.

Hope this helps someone. I would change my reservations, but we're going for my birthday in November. :-)

Congratulations! I too get the impression that it is "stuffy" which is probably why I have not stayed there yet. However ... I'll take a little "stuffy" to be within walking distance of two parks and have Stormaong Bay as my pool. I'm sure you'll have a great time! Make sure to make some ADRs at the Epcot restaurants!

robin...you must stay at the "stuffy" hotels..YC and GF...and cross them off your list:)
I have one to go...then DVC here I come...lol:) We are doing the tour next trip...sorry OT

It's our favorite resort on Disney property with the BC coming in 2nd place :rotfl: We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE everything about it.... the location (so close to Epcot and MGM... as well as the Boardwalk), Stormalong Bay, Beaches and Cream.... DH refers to it as "going home" every time we walk through those doors on each trip..... have fun! You'll love it! :thumbsup2
