Upgrade to what?

DH has my old iTouch and my really obsolete cell phone. He's hard of hearing so he only uses the phone for texting. It's so old it can't receive pictures but I believe he can still take them. LOL

I don't want to really get into another iPhone monthly cost so I'm thinking upgrading his iTouch. They can now do texting right? He texts from the mine pit he works in so maybe not the iTouch?

Any help sorting this out would be appreciated.

an itouch can text for free and send/receive e-mail if he is in a place that has wifi.

Also consider a refurbished on on the Apple Store if you want to save some money. They have the exact same warranty as a new one We have a ton of refurb Apple products and never had a problem with any.

If all he needs is texting and he doesn't have wifi, consider Virgin Mobile. $35/mo unlimited text and data + 300min talk. It's not free but if he's in a good Sprint coverage area it might be worth the cost.

My daughter has an ipod touch and uses textnow for texting. She can even earn minutes to use it as a phone by watching stupid videos. Obviously the child knows more than I do but she is able to use her ipod to call me. And with textnow you can send pictures, etc.
