Upgrade to villa suite at PBH?

We are plat loews and booked in a portofino suite (complimentary upgrade at booking) in Feb with AAA discount. I am wondering if they allow you to upgrade to a villa suite at checkin for $$? I did read about such an upgrade for an extra $35 per night on loews.com but have no idea if it incudes the villa suite? TIA for any info!

Back in July DH and I were upgraded to a Villa Suite. I had booked a deluxe room via the 800 # on the back of my AP. I think I booked at the AP rate. I then called the hotel directly and asked for an upgrade to to the Villa Suite (I had read on these boards that someone else had done this). I have tried to do that recently for my July stay and have not had success. I booked a garden room and have been upgraded to the Portofino Suite by the folks at Universal Reservations. I am still hoping that as our travel dates gets closer, I will be able to get the Villa Suite upgrade.

Thanks for the info. I am wondering about the upgrade that you PAY for. According to loews.com you can upgrade at checkin for $35 per night. Has anyone upgraded this way?

I would still call the front desk and see if the upgrade is available. I would say that you have heard that other Loews Plat members have upgraded to Villa Suites (both Goofy! and I did it last year for our mid-July stays) and see if that upgrade is available during your stay. If they say they don't do that or that such an upgrade is unavailble during your stay, I would then ask if it was available for the $35 you are willing to pay.

I will do that! Our trip is in Feb and I'm wondering how early I should call? Thanks for the suggestion!

Speaking of Suites... I was just wondering where the Pres. and Gov. Suites are located. I would love to look for the balcony that seats 6 per one website I viewed. Does anyone know where these are and what their views are? Thanks.

The Pres. suite is located on the top floor of the villa wing that is above the lobby. It look directly out over the bay and piazza toward HRH. There is a Gov. suite right below that and the second Gov. suite is in the villa wing on the top floor right next to the elevators that lead to the piazza. You can spot it easily because it is the only room in that area with a fancy balcony.
