Upgrade to Premium AP

Ok, this one might be a long shot, but here we go. My DW and I received AP's during the last SSR promotion period by adding on 150 points to our account. We still have days left on our regular passes from a past trip and of course don't want to waste those days. Does anyone know if Disney will prorate our present tickets toward the upgrade price to Premium AP's.

Any feedback would be greatly appriciated.

Are you trying to upgrade the comp AP's or your old hoppers?

1). WDW no longer pro-rates upgrades (at least on AP/PAP's). Found this out first hand. You would have to pay the full price differnece between the AP & the PAP.

2). In the past, comp passes had no cash value therefore could not be used toward an upgrade. Other DVCers may have had experience with this to the contrary & hopefully this has changed. Maybe they are considered a gift with purchase now instead of a comp.

3). If you are talking about upgrading hoppers then I think it depends on how old they are. If they are MYW tix then they are so "front heavy" I think you'd be better off using the days left or saving them for down the road instead of using it toward an upgrade. ex. a 5 day MYW base is $219 while the 7 day is $223. If you had a 7 & only used 5 you would only get a $4 credit toward your PAP.

My advice is be prepared for mulitple scenarios once you arrive at Guest Services. I had called WDW ticketing about upgrading AP's to PAP's & was given 2 different sets of info. The cm's at GS deal with this all the time so unless you get someone who is "Earning My Ears" I feel confident that they are more versed in the rules than anyone else.

Minnie, thanks for the advice. I think what I was attempting to say and it didn't come out as intended. What I am attempting to do is obtain the AP's on our next trip next August. We still have I believe 3 or 4 days left on a MYW, no experation tickets to use. What I think the way I should phrase the question is when we arrive turn in the voucher for the AP's and the MYW tickets in an attempt to upgrade to the PAP. Should I just use the MYW tickets the next trip and save the AP vouchers until the next visit or will they pro rate the remaining days on the MYW tickets. You pretty much answered my question, but I just wanted to clarify my initial post.

I'd save the MYW tickets for a future trip. The MYW tickets are really front loaded - the remaining days aren't going to be worth much as a credit towards another pass or AP/PAP. IIRC, those last few days can be worth as little as $8 or $9 dollars each. Much better to use them for admission.
