We are booking a last minute trip to WDW :cool1: because DH has to go there for business. I just confirmed the AP rate tonight for a garden view. We will be staying 5 nights and when I asked about concierge it was going to be an additional $506 including taxes for all 5 nights. I didn't think this was so bad - we will be at the resort a lot this trip, DH will be on business some and 3 yr old DD and I will be relaxing a lot more since we just went in Sept and did EVERY park!!! We also take afternoon breaks everyday for dd's nap when we are at the parks and then head back out again.

So what do you actually get with concierge - is $500 more for the trip worth it for us 3?

I JUST responded to another Poly. concierge thread (we thought it was worth it), and there are others who also wrote, so you might want to read that one. I've answered this ? several times since we returned in March, so there's lots of good RSVPs if you search. Sorry, I'm off to bed.

Personally I don't think so. Plus you know what they say...if you have to ask, it's not worth it.

It's to subjective. You are getting extra service for your money. If you are willing to pay for extra service, then go for it. Like the other poster said, if you have to ask, maybe it isn't for you. If you are asking will you eat $500 worth of food, no way.

Yes, it is worth it! You can have breakfast in the lounge, the staff is there to make any arrangements for you that you may need. I would say that with a three year old in tow, concierge is definitely worth it. He will love the cookies and the PB&J sandwiches. They have chocolate milk and juice boxes for the kids and the lounge is great, especially if you have a garden view room. You can sit in the lounge and watch the fireworks and the EWP every night if you like. The location of the buidling is perfect, right next to the pool and a short walk to the boat dock and the GCH. The only problem is that you will be totally spoiled and never want to go to WDW again unless you stay concierge!

I just wanted to add that Anne is right, you probably will not eat $500 worth of food, however, having everything you might need right there was worth it for us. You are paying for a higher level of service. I would say if you were park commandos and were going to be leaving the resort early and coming back late, maybe it wasn't for you, but with the kind of touring you described, I think concierge would be perfect for you.

We are a family of 3 and definitely felt that concierge was worth $ per night (also did AP rate)- You won't eat that much but it was worth it for us for the convenience. The location is a big plus.

We really enjoyed just going down the hall for breakfast in the am before heading out and were usually at the pool by mid-day. DS would just have a PBJ and beverage while we changed into bathingsuits and he was ready to go.

I was at the Poly concierge this summer with a 4 & 6 year old (no other adult except my 17 year old daughter) and I absolutely loved the convenience of the lounge with the little ones. I did have lagoon view so would get dessert and wine and take it back to my room and enjoy that later at night while they slept.

It was just very convenient.

We stayed Poly concierge and it was worth it to us. Though there are 6 of us so I think a better value for the money. It was great to just pop down to the lounge for breakfast and for our teens to pop down for snacks and drinks--since they are always hungry, lol. We did also use their services to snag a couple PS we were having a hard time getting.

I probably wouldn't do it, but then $500 is a lot of extra $$ for me, it might not be that much to other people.

The concierge rooms are exactly the same as the standard rooms- all the rooms at the Polynesian are really nice.

Thanks everyone. We upgraded to concierge this morning. :cool1:

Once I looked into it more - I feel that it is worth it. I know we won't eat $100 a food a day but between the food, drinks, location and lounge/personal desk, I feel that it will be worth it for us during this stay. Since this is a business trip for DH, his client is paying a lot of it. He will be to and from a few days and says he feels safer with us at concierge esp since we will be at the resort a lot this time. I am so excited - we leave in a week. I will be back to report in 2 wks!!

One point hasn't been mentioned so far.

One advantage of concierge is the pre-trip planning. This isn't the reason that we picked to stay concierge on our recent trip (AKL CL) but I came to learn that, at least in our case, it was a VERY useful benefit...particularly in trying to secure last minute PSs or making changes to exising PSs. You won't be in the same position as if you were asking for the PSs 90 days out but they will likely do much better than you would do on your own. If this is a last minute trip, I am guessing that you haven't even thought about any PS for meals or activities at WDW during your stay. Staying concierge will put you in the best position to get even the most difficult to obtain PSs at the last minute (i.e., the will keep checking for you for any requested but unavailable PS every day until you arrive).

Also, when they arrange the PSs, they note on the PS that you are a concierge guest and I think it sometimes makes a difference. When we dined at Boma, they gave our party of 7 that table that looks like the artist's palate (it could have easily seated 10). This was the Friday night during the busy Easter weekend. When we went to Jiko the next night, we asked to be moved to a window seat even though it was very busy. The server initially thought it would be a problem and went back to the podium. When he came back, he told us "No problem". When I went to the front desk at AKL for something, the CM was starting to ask me some questions like what room I was in, etc., etc. The CM beside her recognized me from the lounge upstairs and told her "he's a concierge guest" and she stopped with her questions and I got what I wanted immediately. You can't really put a price on any of this, particularly since you can't even be sure it is attributable to being a concierge guest. But, it's something that might be worth taking into consideration.

This is such a fun thread for us. We were surprised last week to find that our wonderful DIS friend Kathi (kmr) had upgraded our Poly stay to concierge. She did this on my birthday and had me screaming for joy so loud that she could hear me from SC all the way to Boston! :teeth: I've been reading non-stop about all the great perks of being concierge and we're so thrilled we can't hardly sleep at night. I can't imagine how crazed we'll be when the trip finally arrives!!
