We have booked 4 nights in Cheyenne in Oct using the 2 night, 2nights free deal currently on. we have stayed there before and loved the theming and thought the room met our needs.

I've always wanted to stay in the Disneyland Hotel (weird since I have no interest in WDW's Grand Floridian). I haven't booked it because the comments I hear from people always indicate the rooms are pretty standard and over priced for what you get. We are on a budget but can stretch it if needs be.

It will just be 2 adults and aside from basing my judgment on trip advisor, I thought I'd ask here. At double the price of Cheyenne, in your experience, do you think it is worth upgrading to the Disneyland hotel or do you you think that same money could be put to better use for something else?

Twice the price doesn't sound so bad to me although it does depend where you started from. ;) We are booked at the Cheyenne in March with the 2 night, 2 nights free deal and I recently enquired about upgrading just to the SL and was quoted a price three times what we had paid. :sad2: For us the money can be better spent elsewhere (or on more trips) but one day I hope to experience the atmosphere and park proximity of the DLH.

It's up to you at the end of the day, the DL hotel is nice but how long do you spend in your room when you visit DLP.

We are booked into the Santa Fe for six nights in March, (wanted to see what the new Cars themed rooms looked like). For me it's just some where to sleep and get changed in the evenings before going out again.

We plan on poping into the DL hotel a few times during our stay to eat in it's resturants and use the bar.

If you can aford it go for it but for me the extra money could be spent on an extra trip. But I plan on staying there one day for a short trip to celebrate our wedding anniversary. My plan is to tell DW we are staying at the SL or HNY and when we arrive just head towards the big pink hotel when we get out of the train station.

It depends how much extra you're talking.

In cold weather it's very much worth the money not to walk as far and to have the amazing breakfast.

I thought the room was great. Similar to the Floridian in standards so much nicer than what I imagine the Cheyenne rooms to be like.

How about HNY as a compromise if not? Ht breakfast, shorter walk and will be much less.

Our plan is to stay at SL/HNY for nice weather trips and splurge on the DLH for any winter ones.

That being said if I booked and then I deal came out making an upgrade cheap enough I couldn't say no to the DLH.

That is a very good deal as I looked at the DLH and it was twice the price of Newport Bay for when we are going!
Not sure I could leave that bargain if I could stretch to it.

Personally I wouldn't, unless it was for a special occasion. I have stayed at the DLH and it is lovely, however we have since stayed at the Cheyenne and had an equally great time and, as others have mentioned, you can still use the bar, shop, have breakfast, lunch and dinner there. The only real advantage is the proximity to the parks but without children (and even with) the walk back to the other hotels is easy enough not to make that a deal breaker for me.

So I would save the money but have breakfast at the DLH and lots of cocktails!

I would upgrade if the cost wasn't too much. We left it too long to book for the DLH this time and the family rooms were full by the time we did! Too expensive for us otherwise in two rooms. We are doing HNY but I'm still looking and hoping an amazing offer may appear so we can upgrade.

Being situated at the park is amazing and we often strolled back for snacks at fantasia cafe during the day and just sat in their lounge, it was soo lovely and a great respite from the madness of the parks. We love it. Although we can still go to their cafe it is a different feeling when you know your room is only a warm stroll away. Think we even sat there in slippers one afternoon! Well, the kids did anyway Lol

Still plan to visit a few times this Easter :)

I would if it's for a special occasion, as it's just so magical and right on the doorstep of the park! Double the price doesn't seem too excessive, I would have thought it would be more!
