Upgrade to AP question

We are going to DL for one day on April 21st - it's a Saturday. I just realized it's a blackout day for Deluxe AP holders. We were going to go and buy new AP's (our old ones have expired) that day but now I'm not so sure (don't really want to spend another $40 for the both of us just to go for one day).

Is there any way around paying the $20 fee? Can we enter with hoppers, then later upgrade those hoppers to an AP without paying the $20 each?

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Yes, you could buy one-day hoppers, then pay the difference at the end of the day to upgrade to Deluxe APs.

BTW, the cost of the blockout tickets are $30.

That's what my girlfriend and I are doing, when we go in two weeks.

If your AP has expired, you can just get new APs the day you want to go. They allow you to use them the first day, even if it's a blackout day.
