Hello DIS experts! I'll be in DL this Dec with my boys on a 5 day hopper. We would like to upgrade to APs at the end of our trip since we'll be there during block out days. I know that you can get a pass to enter if upgrading even on a block out day. I'm wondering if I need to wait until the morning of our last day to upgrade or can I upgrade the evening prior when we leave the parks?

Thanks starshine! I get that it makes sense to wait until the last morning....but I think lines will likely be shorter if I can do it the night before. Just thought I'd see if anyone on here had experience with this before.

I understand about the lines, but they always seem to be long.

Our last trip, we bought AP cards and entered with them, then turned them into regular APs at the ticket booth mid-afternoon. The line wasn't horrible (maybe ten minutes) but we probably spent an hour at the ticket booth. There was the matter of issuing a brand-new AP to my three-year-old, processing our 13-month AP cards, and them pixie-dusting my mom's regular AP card into a 13-month AP, plus us adding on MaxPass and them trying to put our existing FPs (RSR and GOTG) onto our new APs (we ended up with those any-attraction FPs instead, which worked just fine). It was a long, long process. I was so happy that we didn't attempt that before rope drop.

I've upgraded at night and they offered me the pass for the same day (not the next day). I think it would largely depend on the ticket person you get and what they feel like doing. So you could always ask the night before if they'd give you a pass for the next day but know you might have to wait.

OP, the ticket booths are open after an hour after park closes - so you may be able to do it then the night before (but definitely ask ahead of time).

Thanks again everyone! One more question- to upgrade to AP it has to be done at a ticket booth correct? There isn't anywhere inside the park to do it? This will be our first time upgrading. I've read a lot on here (seriously you all know so much!!) but I'm still a novice :-)

There used to be a place in the park to do it, but I think the only time we were able to utilize it was 2011. Since, then, we've had to upgrade at the ticket booth. I wish you could still do it inside the park! I'm sure AP upgrades like mine really slow down the ticket line.

Is the last day a blockout day? If so you have to do it that last day.

You'll have to wait until the last day, but you don't need to waste valuable morning ride time to do it. Wait until the afternoon when the lines for the rides get long and do it then.
