There are 4 of us, 2 adults, 9year old and a 5 year old.

I am going to book OKW 1 bed villa, BUT
would it be better to have
1. deluxe dining plan and a studio
2. or 1 bed villa and DDP?
Costs are the same for each option.

From looking at the dinner reservations it looks as though I can't book character meals on the DDP, only on the deluxe plan and as the trip is going to be over my daughters birthday I really wanted a character meal.

You can have character meals on DDP.

With DDP you get 1 table service meal a night (inc character meals), 1 Quick service meal and one snack each.

Most character meals are 1 TS credit each - cinderella's royal table is an exception at 2TS credits.

DDP is alot of food.

Never done deluxe - most people who upgrade tend to do it for a short period or want alot of the 2 credit signature meals. It would be alot of time away from the parks eating.

The studios are nice at OKW (we stay in a studio as just us and DD aged 5) - but they are a room with 2 beds and a kichenette area. 1 beds are alot bigger.

One bed villa and DDP - space over food for us.

You can book all the character meals on the DDP - we have 3 booked for February :thumbsup2

Having done the normal dining plan twice there is no way we could do the deluxe it really is just too much food , and in all fairness if there are only four of you i would stick with the studio as you dont spend a great deal of time in the room and the studio would give the kids a proper bed instead of a pull out sofa. So personally if i was you i would stick with the normal dining ( As dixonsontour said you can definatley do character meals with normal plan) and stick with the studio and use the spare money on a nice treat when in florida, maybe a day at discovery cove. Whatever you decide you will have a fab time :thumbsup2

Definately one bedroom villa and DDP for us too. You get a washer/dryer in the villa and a full kitchen. We've always found the DDP to be plenty of food, we'd never use all the credits on the deluxe plan, and the kids wouldn't want to spend all that time in restaurants when they could be in the parks lol!

We would do studio and regular DDP, as we will be for the 4th time next summer and spend the money on something else.
The difference between a studio & 1 bed next year is £1,050, that would get us a 4 night cruise, incl tips & drinks.

If I had to choose between the 2 options you have it would be the 1 bed as there is more than enough food on regular DDP incl all the character meals you want. Plus the Deluxe DDP comes with even more tipping, that enough on regular.

We've done the DDP several times and there's no way that I'd get the Deluxe plan, way too much food IMO. We've never stayed it a one bedroom as one of our DDs doesn't want to sleep on a pullout, so it has to be either a 2 bedroom or a studio. I'd definitely save the £s and spend in on something else! :thumbsup2

I was actually quite pleased to see this thread as I have been trying to decide on a 1 ed or studio at OKW - and this has answered that dilema.
Our 'children' will be 17 and 14 so to think we can all squeeze into the 2 beds provided is a little optimistic - so a 1 bed it is :goodvibes

I think with children at that age you need to spend the extra, I doubt Matt would want to share his bed age 17, different when they are younger.

In the one beds at OKW you have the sleeper chair plus queen sleeper sofa in the living room and you will get the King in the master :thumbsup2

OOh we have a one bed booked next week didn't know it had a king in the master.Thought it was a normal queen.
I would def go for the one bedroom over the deluxe plan. This is our first time in one bedrooms at both OKW and AKLV so hoping it wont spoil us.Studios never been a problem with DD but shes a fidgit and my mom has bad arthritis:lmao:.

Thanks again.
DDP it is, and I think we will go with a studio, and buy a ticket for sea world/busch gardens out of the savings. Both girls are mad on animals, especially whales/dolphins so I think this will go down well.
I would have loved to spend it on a swim with dolphins, but my youngest is only 5 and I can't imagine the tantrums/disappointment there would be if she saw her sister getting to touch the dolphins in the water and she couldn't.
OK, I am going to take the plunge tonight and book.
Thank you all so much.
Rachel (who is a little less scared about the whole idea now!)

I'll ask Dizzy to take plenty of photos and he can come back and tell us all about it :thumbsup2

I too would spend it on the 1 bedroom, personally I would find a studio a nightmare to share with any more than 1 person, a 1 bedroom is far more private and means you have your own space and ability to sleep when maybe others dont want to.

Did you book?

Any more questions ask away (we love to talk about food if dining reservations are your next item on the to do list :))

i would go with the regular DDP and the one bedroom..

the one bedroom at OKW is HUGE and wonderful!!

it will make your trip so much nicer than being squished into a studio.

as for the regular DDP, it is a TON of food.
we were eating all the time and still had credits left over at the end.
