Upgrade special ticket?

A few months ago Universal emailed out a PIN special offer for a 3 day park to park ticket for the cost of a 1 day ticket. This was a great deal for us as we were planning 3 days after a cruise. Now we can do 4 days given a change of plans.

Can I upgrade this ticket to an annual pass after using it in the park? I know that some tickets can but not sure about these. Will it credit the cost of a 3 day ticket or just the purchase price of 1 day ticket?

Someone asked customer service that and they said that you can upgrade it but you will only get credit for one day.
