Upgrade question...

I've never done this before, and was hoping for some tips:D

We are staying at POR for 8 nights for our first anniversary trip, and have a standard room booked. It would be wonderful if we had a king room, but we don't really want to pay the extra $ for it. At the same time we won't be heartbroken if we don't get it either. I feel kind of funny asking for an upgrade so who knows if I'll even say anything, but for those who have done it what did you do? Look pitiful? lol:D I have the bridal Minnie ears headband from our wedding/honeymoon and I think I'll feel funny wearing them (even though it's our anniversary), but maybe they'd help?

Again, I know not to expect anything, and we definitely won't mind if we don't get anything (hey we're in Disney:Pinkbounc :bounce: ) but I figured it might be worth a shot!

Thanks:D

Just have them note that it is your anniversary on your reservation. So many people have been faxing upgrade requests that I think they go unread for the most part.

It probably depends on availability also. We were at POR in October and asked if we could PAY for an upgrade to a King room and the CM laughed--as I expected, and said they were at 100% capacity. I was willing to pay, but no go for us. The best upgrade we have ever gotten at POR was a water-view/corner after having a standard room reserved. As in the past, we never asked for the upgrade, just found out when we got to our room. Was upgraded at the AKL from a standard to pool view also, but again, never asked for the upgrade.

I, too, would LOVE to get an upgrade...but would never ask.
I've read about so many people asking and receiving upgrades, but know I could never ask for one. (Wish I could.)

I never ask either. We still get upgraded sometimes, though. We got a courtyard view at WL and pool view at AKL upgrades without asking. Also, we got an upgrade from lake view to resort view at the Swan. :)

I have the opposite problem! I have CBR booked at the AP rate, but it is a king room! The doubles were filled at that rate, and I couldn't pass the rate up. I will be asking for a "downgrade" to two doubles when we check in! I do hope someone gets to enjoy the king room I really need to give up!
