I have a 6 night stay at POR in September and booked a phenomenal rate through Priceline. If we wanted to try to upgrade to a Royal room could we? We’d be possibly willing to pay the difference. Just curious if this is an option or anyone has done it?

You can ask at thr resort but be prepared to be quoted current rack rate for the upgrade which would negate any savings you received through Priceline.

I thought the exact same thing. If you are allowed to upgrade the price would be what rack is at that time therefore you lose the Priceline savings.

It sounds like OP is maybe thinking there is "ticket bridging" style pricing where they would pay the difference between regular room rack rate and preferred room rack rate. I don't think that is likely: I suspect you would have to pay the price between your discounted Priceline rate and the full royal room price. Which means if there is availability now, better to book to book now than wait until those rooms are sold out.

Personally, I would stay with the regular room at POR and request to stay somewhere in Alligator Bayou. Nearly all of those rooms have been recently refurbed and are going to be in better condition than the Royal Rooms currently are.
