Upgrade or not

There will be four of us going to Disney in a little over a month. We are debating if we should upgrade to deluxe dining or stick with the mid level. It is my daughters first trip to Disney so we are trying to make it very special with character meals and such. But we are not sure of it is worth the extra money being my daughter is three and my mother is also coming both not big eaters. Thank you for your replies.

It's going to depend on exactly how many character meals you want to do. If you're going to do at least two table service restaurants a day, it might be worthwhile. It's said one of the best ways to use the deluxe plan is for an early TS meal and then a signature dinner each day.


If you are concentrating on character meals, whether your party are big eaters or not doesn't matter, as all character meals are fixed price (either buffet or family style, CRT and Akershus are fixed price but you choose from a menu) and you'll be paying the same for those no matter how much gets eaten. So if you want at least two character meals a day you might want to consider the deluxe.

Do you have ADR's already? If not then I wouldn't upgrade. Also if you aren't huge eaters then I would stay with the standard DP. The DDP is a lot of food and time in TS restaurants

To get value out of the DxDP, you need to eat 2-3 table service meals per day. If 2 meals, then at least 1 of the meals should be signature or a 2-credit meal.
Since your trip is only a month away, you're somewhat limited in the reservations you can still make. But if you are interested in adding a whole bunch of signature reservations, and feel ok spending 4-6 hours per day in restaurants, then go for it. I've used the DxDP myself in the past, and it did work out well, but only with a ton of carefully spacing out and planning the meals.

Thank you for your responses we had made out reservations for dining early so that wasn't an issue. I think we're going to stick with the regular dining. Thanks again.
