I really should be able to tell my brother "yes this can be done, you can upgrade a one-day ticket on a blockout day to a So CA Select AP". After all, I answer with such things in other threads. But this is my brother, and he's a serious guy, and he would want to make SURE he could do it.

So can he and his wife do this? Buy a one-day next Sunday, then upgrade to that AP (they live in San Diego) at some point during the day?

They aren't hurting for money, but it pains me to think that they qualify for these APs but continue to just buy one-day tickets when they go.

Thanks in advance!

I'm almost postive they can! I'm going to be upgrading my 3 day park hopper to a premium annual pass, so I'm pretty sure it's the same thing, they'll just have to pay the difference.. I think they can do it before they're one day ends too, maybe first thing in the morning!? ;)

They probably can do that, but why not just buy the AP from the beginning? They can visit on a blockout day for their first visit, get their picture taken, etc. That's what we did last year and plan to do this year too. Just make sure they look at the calendar before choosing the so. cal. select AP - I think ALL Saturdays and Sundays are blocked for the whole year.

That's also an idea, lol. For some reason I figured that my brother would be more comfortable doing the upgrade thing (b/c it just seems weird that you can flat out buy an AP on a blocked out date, ya know?), but I'll let him know that he should just ask.

We bought our AP a couple weeks before we activated it at the park. I think he can purchase it online and save standing in the ticket line altogether!

As long as he does it before park closing, they'll absolutely allow him to do this. I'm 99.9% sure they'll let him upgrade, after all the alternative is... dragging your DB out of the parks? :lmao: I upgraded my pass on a block out day and it's one of the things that the CM mentioned while she was processing it. Hope your brother enjoys his new passes!

AAA has a $10 off AP special going on right now. It would even be cheaper to buy the AP first then to upgrade in the park.

I have the link on another computer, but I do remember being directed to it from this board.

Well he's just interested in the lowest tier of AP; I don't know why but that's what he said!

Aha! It was the upgrade mention that confused me. :)

119, man. That's, what, 30 bucks more than a one day hopper? Wish I lived in So CA!

And they really really would let him in on a blocked out day, if that's the day he's activating the AP?

Absolutely, positively, 100% sure he can enter on a blockout day to activate his pass. All 6 of us did that last year on 12/26. It was such a busy day that DLR stopped selling parkhopper tickets by 10am. You could only purchase a ticket for DCA. We already had our AP's in hand. The park was packed, but the line to activate AP's was nonexistent - because all AP's except the highest level were blocked out.

The cost is $3 less than two one-park tickets, as well.

It is my understanding that he can enter on a block-out day to activate. This is what a CM told me when I called the Disney ticket center.

We bought our APs online with the AAA discount and entered the park using the e-ticket on a blockout day last Saturday, 12/1. More than one CM confirmed that the first day you used your AP could be on a blockout day. We had no problems in either park that day. -- Suzanne
