My parents are joining us in WDW this fall for a 7 night stay. We (self, DH, DS4) will have new 7 day park hopper passes, planning to spend the first afternoon/evening and 6 full days in the parks. My parents have old, no-expiration tickets (pre-MYW) with 5 days that they plan to use. They do not plan to join us for the first night, but do want to join us for the 6 full days. What is the best way for them to get an extra day (or 2 if the extra is not too expensive)? The extra day would not need to be park hopper, since there are days we do not plan to visit more than 1 park.

Thanks!

IF the tickets have NEVER BEEN USED, they can add extra days (at $3, each) at any WDW resort, ticket window or Guest Relations.

If these old tickets are partially used, they can't be upgraded at all, and buying a day or two extra will cost a FORTUNE.
(They'd have to pay full price for a day... $75 each, and nearly that much for a second day.)

It can be more cost-effective if they simply continue to hold onto their old tickets (for a future, shorter trip)
and buy all NEW tickets for this visit, with the right number of days to cover this entire trip.

Unfortunately, I think they were originally 7 day tickets that have been used. And, they have already told me they don't expect to go back again (hard to believe, but that's what they claim). They have 2 tickets to the waterparks as well, so maybe we can just split up one day.

Thanks for the help. You just confirmed what I thought, but usually there is some way to work it out, if only you know the trick.

Thanks. I had already seen that, and hadn't found a cost effective way to do what I wanted. Robo confirmed there isn't one.:headache:

My parents told me yesterday they found another set of old tickets, so they now believe they have 6 days to use! They are going to try to call WDW to check how many days are left on each ticket, but hopefully this issue is now taken care of without any great expense!

Great news!

To check to see if older tickets still have "days left" on them...

Call WDW at
(407) 566-4985

When the system answers-
Press "Option 2" when asked.
The CM can then check what's still on your ticket if you read her/him the numbers printed on it.

They are only open Mon-Sat. (Some say Mon-Fri.)

If they won't offer you the info on the first call, try again later... and again (etc.)

Thanks for the info! We'll check soon.

Any other ways to check from my hometown? I have tried to call the number listed, but can not get anyone to confirm how many days are left on my tickets. Thanks!

If the number doesn't work the only way is at WDW.

The number is/was something that was only setup only a few years ago.

Before then you had to go to WDW to check on days left on a ticket. The reason, I think, was to discourage reselling of partially used tickets. I guess with the finger scan they thought they could now give out that info.

For whatever reason it seems harder and harder to get that info from the number.

Only occasionally will someone post that it worked. Maybe the one CM hasn't gotten the memo yet was working when they called.

1. Once upon a time you could call a number and the CM would tell you how many days etc. remain on your ticket.

2. Then things were changed so the CM's were not supposed to tell you although once in awhile you succeeded.

3. Then rumor had it that divulging that info over the phone could result in removal from the cast.

4. Then (another) number was published whereby you could call and get that information. Actually two numbers, you punched in one to make the call and punched in the other to get to the proper department.

5. Maybe we have come full circle. Go to 2.

LOL Guess I will just have to keep trying that magic number. Appreciate the suggestions, and encouragement. I just have way too many random tickets left over. I would like to use up a few that have only a day or so left on them. Hate to drag them all with me. I will post if I have success!

I would have thought that myself EXCEPT... for recent reports that guests persevered and finally got a CM who told them their ticket info.
