Should I take it? It won't cost me any extra. This is our second trip to WDW and our parents first. We really want the Disney experience. We have four children under 7 years old. I also do not like the $10 a day resort fee. We don't drink coffee and won't be reading any papers.
On the other hand it looks like a good location compared to Port Orleans.
Thanks for any input.

Why were you upgraded? When are you going?

With kids that would be a hard choice. There are pros and cons to both. I would probably pick POR but would have to give it a lot of thought. Do you have to pay more?

It is part of a land and cruise package. I don't know why I was upgraded. It doesn't cost any more and we are going the first week of December.

As far as theming, POR will be better. However, the Dolphin is so close to MGM and Epcot that it would be a better choice. I don't know if you will have a car, but Epcot and MGM have a good ferry service or you could even walk. If one of the kids is acting up or tired, it is about a 15 minute journey from either front entrance back to your resort. You have a ton of restaurant choices. The Swan, Boardwalk and Yacht and Beach Club are all within walking distance. You have all the restaurants at the World Showcase that are open til 9.

The downside to Dolphin. No theming, no food court.

Good Luck with your decision

We had the same upgrade last year (and it included the resort fee). The Dolphin was very nice. I'm glad we had the chance to stay there. The room was very large, the hotel was nice and clean, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. I wouldn't book it on my own, but if I received a free upgrade, I'd go. The location is fabulous!

We also got the same upgrade from POR to the Dolphin. We'll be there next month. YOu can't beat the location. You can walk to Epcot and MGM or take a short boat ride over. IT's also the first stop on the bus route. You might also be lucky enough to get an Epcot view! I hear they have wonderful beds as well!
I'd rather spend more time at the parks than waiting for a bus.

Which ever you decide, I'm sure you'll have a great time!
