I notice a lot of people getting upgrades.

How soon before cruise do they tell you.

Has anyone ever been upgraded from a category 4 to category 3?

We are 5 people (4 adults - 1 child) n a CAtegory 4. A bump up would be SOOOOOO cool.

Will love it anyway.

Not saying it can't happen but, with only 18 cat 3 rooms on the entire ship, I would think the odds are pretty slim.

Good luck....... I hope you get one! :D

They are pretty rare to go from a 4 to a 3 (free). We were able to get one at the port when we checked in for a very good deal. Much less than the published price. But, they don't all sleep 5 so availabilty is an issue. If you don't mind spending a little more, ask when you check in!

I was just (yesterday)upgraded from a 6 to a 4. We sail on Sept. 8th. I just don't know how or why it happened....not that I'm complaining!!! I even went onto the cruise line website and rebooked my trip for the same exact time (just to see availability) and there were still cat 6 cabins available. So, I have no idea why I got upgraded. But, I am going enjoy it to it's fullest!!!

a family on our cruise was upgraded from cat 4 to cat 3....
so i guess it does happen (i think they had to pay for the upgrade, discounted)...
i think they were given one of the handicapped cat 3 staterooms (aft)....

That's what we did...upgraded at port for a discounted fee. And ours was a handicapped room, as well. I think they hold these in case they are needed. If not, they become available.

You said that you got an upgrade at a discounted price. How much of a discount did you get? I am thinking of upgrading at the port as well. Any info is appreciated!

wow, i thought buying upgrades at the port were expensive for the most part. please provide more info!!!

Bumping for a possible answer. Does anyone know how much of a discount is offered for upgrades at port?

Thanks!!

On our cruise, we upgraded at the port for about $800 (from a 4 to a 3). I think, for our family of 4, it would have been around $3,000 to $4,000 if we had done it prior.

Not sure if all that is exact but pretty close. Obviously, the price jump from a 4 to a 3 is significant because of the added concierge service as well as room size, etc. So, the $800 was well worth it for us.

wow...that is cheap...
but i'm not willing to take the risk of a cat 3 not being available....i woudln't be happy in anything less...(how do you spell spoiled?)

If you inquire to upgrade at the Port, they will figure the cost based on the price the room is then going for. Most likely, any Early Booking Savings is gone by the day you sail.

The upgrades we are seeing this week all seem to be for the September cruises, which were discounted too. The ship is probably the least full the month of September as it is Hurricane Season and their value season.

Check the main cruise forum.

Dancemomof2 got upgraded from a 6 to a 3 and was notified 12 days prior to sailing.

Good luck!
