Upgrade from 3-day to 4-day?

We've been planning our DLR visit for several months, but are now considering switching from a 3-day ticket to a 4-day ticket (both hoppers). Wanted to know your thoughts...

We arrive at John Wayne airport next Monday night and are staying close to the airport that night. Tuesday we have a town car to take us to the DLH, where we are staying through Saturday morning. All along the plan has been to take it easy Tuesday, hit the pool, DTD, and have dinner at Goofy's... make it an early night to hit DCA for rope drop Wednesday, then do Wed-Fri in the parks (with afternoon hotel breaks).

We are getting the CityPASS, so I thought we were locked into the 3-day ticket and didn't think anything of it. But I searched around and found that you can upgrade your tickets based on current pricing, which means we can add a day for $73 plus tax for our entire family (2 adults, 1 child, 1 infant).

Does it make sense to go to 4 days and do the parks Tuesday-Friday? We would still do rope drop at DCA on Wed & Fri to take advantage of staying on site, but overall I think we could take a slower pace and take it in a bit more over 4 days. However, we would be arriving mid-morning on Tuesday at best, and Tuesday is a grad night (Thursday is the only date of ours that isn't). We also want/need to do our Goofy's dinner at some point, as we have vouchers that are part of our vacation package for it. We are already using a second voucher at the PCH Grill Saturday morning before we leave, so Goofy's needs to be Tues-Fri night.

I know we don't have to decide until we get there, so we can see how we are feeling and what time it is on Tuesday. But I'd like to have some expert input... What do you think?

Do your dinner at Goofy's on a Grad night.
4day hoppers would be nice. It would give you extra time in the parks.

I honestly think 3 days is enough for Disneyland. Especially because you are going midweek. As long as you get up on time you should be fine

I see the merits of the last two replies; that's my struggle. 3 days is probably enough, even at a slower pace with little ones...but we will be right there. We did a similar plan at WDW last year and enjoyed that transition day, but it's quite different because we had to take a bus to get to the parks. It was easier to just chill and not think ''e could be in the parks'. Not sure I'll be able to do that at DL since it's all so close!

Thats only $25 a person, I think that's worth it. It sounds like you won't be thete early Tues, but if you are staying at the Disneyland hotel you are eligible for EMH on Tuesday too.

YES, definitely 4 days is so worth it! We generally go to the parks for 4 days and still do NOT see and do everything we'd like to do! It just makes for much more pleasant and relaxed days in the parks.....take your time! notice all the little details.

See how things go on arrival day. My group can't wait to enter the parks.
If you're not sure whether you want 3 or 4 days in the parks, start with your current 3-day tickets.
If you decide to "Upgrade" just do it prior to the end of your 3-day tickets.

For $73 I feel it's really a nice treat to at least spend a few hours in the parks on your first day.

I would upgrade.

I would stay at a hotel on harbor instead of by the airport (??) and try to get to the dlh early, have them hold my luggage and do the emh. Or just go do the email he and leave your luggage at your old
Hotel.

That hour alone would be worth it. Then maybe a parade or a relaxed day.

We always go in on arrival day! Having that extra day will make your other 3 days more relaxed. Make it easier to take afternoon breaks. For $73 extra this would be a no-brainer for our family!

Thanks for all the feedback! Sounds like we will plan to upgrade, and try to get over to DLH a little earlier than planned. That should be ok, since we are gaining two hours from flying Monday.

We will likely keep our hotel, as they have a free shuttle from the airport, so we only have to pay for transportation on Tuesday morning instead of Monday night and Tuesday morning. Rope drop Tuesday is not going to happen anyway, but just getting in there and enjoying the parks for another day (for less than $100) sounds like the correct play.

Thanks again!

A little confused about your transportation-an Uber to a harbor hotel would be what, $20? I’m not seeing where you’d have two trips?

First is airport to Monday night hotel. Second is Monday night hotel to DLH on Tuesday morning. I don't see walking from any Harbor hotel to DLH as an option, as we will have a 4-year old, an infant, and several bags.

Unless Harbor hotels offer free shuttles from John Wayne airport?
