Upgrade at OKW

I obtained a 1 BR at OKW through II for the last week of September. We are used to staying in a 2BR and I would like to "upgrade" to a 2BR (if the price is reasonable!).. How do I go about obtaining an upgrade at a reasonable price?

You can always ask at arrival and see if the resort can work some "magic" for you, but I wouldn't count on the upgrade on an II exchange. (It is extremenly rare for DVC owners to get upgrades - and those few usually occur only when there are maintenance issues invloved.)

Regardless, I'm sure you'll enjoy the 1BR villa.

No way to do so unless you're just extremely lucky and the 2 BR is all they have left. NO way to get it and pay cash. Even if you were a DVC member but trading in through II, you could not make this happen. What you could try to do is get a studio for the same exact dates and resort. You'd have an extra exchange fee and extra $95 resort services fee. You could them ASK them to put them together but there'd be no guarantees. You could also rent a studio from a member OR from Disney for cash and ASK them to put them together, again, no guarantees.

Keep your eyes out for a 2 BR online. If it's there, call II immediately and ask to "re-trade" for that unit. They will usually do so without problems. They may or may not charge you another exchange fee. Wait until last minute to pay the $95 resort services fee else you'd likely have to pay it again if you re-traded. I'd check every AM between 5-6 eastern then several times every day if this is your goal.

The one bedrooms at OKW are huge, close to 1100 square feet. Plus, they have a very large porch area. Lots of square footage.

Littlestar - thanks for the good news on the 1BR - it is only myself, DH, DD(9), and DS(11) so I am sure that a 1BR will not be a tight fit!

You will have plenty room Pollyann ! I see you children are opposite gender so they probably won't want to share the sofa bed in the living room. But the 1 bedrooms at OKW are very large and you'll have plenty of floor space for an air mattress. Have a nice stay !
