We have Southern California annual passes that expire on 10/11/14. We plan to upgrade to Deluxe passes so we can go on more days. Question: Can we upgrade and use the new passes when we go this Saturday 10/4? Or do we need to wait until our current passes expire before we can use the new Deluxe passes (and extra days)?

That's an interesting question...I've never tried, but my guess is that you would still have the SoCal AP until your new AP "year" started. Otherwise, I would think you'd have to upgrade your current SoCal AP to get the Deluxe AP benefits for the current year and then renew the Deluxe AP for next year.

Do your current passes have the expiration date printed on them, or are they the new evergreen passes? The reports have been that with the new ones (no expiration date or pass type printed on the back) that Disney has been enforcing the contract and switching to the new pass type on your expiration date. You could always ask at the booth before you upgrade.

Thanks, all. I will check with guest services when we get there. If the upgrade doesn't take effect until the following week, we'll just buy one day tickets for this Saturday.

If you can't, can you buy new passes , not as a renewal, when you go this weekend? The renewal discount that you would lose would be much less than the one day tickets. I'm not sure if they allow having two passes at once though.

Your Deluxe pass would not start until 10/12/14. You would still be blocked on the 4th. The only way you would be allowed into the parks on the 4th is if you renew your pass in person at the ticket booths.
