You probably don't have to bring anything except probably about $80.
In all honesty, a cheap set of hot rollers and you can do a super easy up do, especially if the tossled curls pinned up is all you want. I taught myself how to do this around age 12 or 13 and it got so easy, I've since done numerous weddings including my own.
-Plug in hot rollers
-Tresemme Hair Spray
-Big Roller Pins and smaller Bobby Pins
-Make sure hair is completely dry. Better yet, don't wash it that day. Tough on a cruise if you are going swimming etc. But the less 'shiney, clean' it is, the better it will stay up. But if you MUST shower, you have to have literally ZERO ZERO dampness. Work this in to your timing, even if you get it professionally done. Wet hair takes zero curl.
-Take about inch wide sections of hair, pull taught away from you. Spray spray spray with hairspray. Grab the outside edges of your hot rollers (or hand curl if you want but that takes longer) and wrap the ends around and tuck and roll. Make sure there is zero slack. Roll all the way till farely tight to scalp, and then secure with their holder or better yet, some 'jaws' or pinchy roller clips. Spray and Spray some more. Lots of hair spray. Yes I have an addiction, and also success keeping curl.
-Do each section until you have used all the rollers and divided up all the hair. Now you look like a freak. If you dress pulls ON from the feet up, this is the perfect time to put your makeup on while your curlers are setting, and your jewelry. Its up to you if you want to put your dress on too. If it were me, I'd absolutely because once you take the rollers out, its 10 min top to do your doo.
-Once all the hot rollers cool down to touch (no sooner than 35-40, so work that into your timing), then unwrap each curl. When you take all the curls out, you should look like Little Bo Peep! If you do not want to leave the room looking like Peep, than hang your head over and run your hands through all the curls and break them up and mess them up just as messy as you can.
-If you want the popular 'low side chingnon' messy curls, just put the pony tail to the lower side of one ear, wind the curls loosely into a bun and pin. This is SUPER easy and looks super good. A nice flower or gem stone accessory goes great right next to it.
-If you want curls piled high on top, flip you head back up. You can easily put it all in a high pony tail holder, and then pin the curls messy however you like. If you don't like where you stuck a curl, just take out the pin and put it somewhere else. You basically can't mess it up. If you like a 'french twist' look in the back, pull you hair back at the neck like a very low pony tail, wind and wind and wind around and then pull the curls to the top of your head and either use a pony tail holder there or just start pinning. The big ROLLER pins are structurally awesome but are easier to see, whereas the mini bobby pins are great for hiding away and securing visible curls.
Don't forget that accessories such as big flowers or feathers are very popular right now! And they can also hide any 'problem' areas that didn't go exactly the way you wanted. They can go on the side, underneath, or on top.
And most importantly, don't forget your Princess Tiara!

We wore them every night (except pirate night) without up dos.
If this sounds complicated, it really isn't, just detailed. My suggestion would be to plug them in and try them before a date night before the cruise. Once you get used to curling the ends in the hot rollers, relaxing the curls, and sticking a pin in, you will wonder for the rest of your life why you ever considering paying someone $50-80 to do something so easy!
