Just found out that today the Beach has opened back up from 1hour after sunrise to 1 hour before sunset The Marina has opened back up with full rentals. The Bike Barn is now renting Canoes and Kayaks again.
Fishing on all of the Fort property from the ponds and canals is still not allowed, this includes renting fishing equipment from the BB and also using your own. The temporary fence is up at the Beach and there are signs posted at all the ponds and canals on property. The walking trail behind the 300 loop to the Beach is still closed also. If I hear any more updates while I am here I will post.

So no fireworks viewing from the beach? I hope that this isn't one of the results of this tragedy as it would eliminate almost all outside the park viewing of the fireworks.

Hopefully the fishing restrictions will be lifted soon or Frank will never go back.

I hadn't thought about the fireworks from the beach. Did they actually cancel that too?

I'm wondering the same about watching the fireworks from the beach? We will be there on the 4th, and I am looking forward to watch the fireworks hopefully from the beach. Thanks for the update and please keep us posted.

You can still watch the fireworks just not on the beach, the pier, porch near the Marina and the walkways. It is not the same but still can be done.

I hope they allow fireworks at the beach. Can you imagine trying to cram into the "non" beach areas to watch them. Besides, Ft. Wilderness has a HUGE beach area and there is plenty of place to sit and be far enough from the water to be safe.

Sadly, we have never watched the fireworks from the beach but were probably going to try and do it on our trip in August. Guess it may not happen then.

Same for us. It's our first time camping at the Fort this August. I figured we'd watch the fireworks and Electrical Water Pageant from one of the beaches. And I know my DH and DS were looking forward to fishing a little at the campground.

Over on the Resorts Board they said that the Poly Beach was opened briefly last night to allow for people to watch the fireworks. So maybe the Fort beach will possibly close an hour before sunset but then reopen just for fireworks viewing and then close again afterward. :confused3

That's going to be thoroughly disappointing if we can't go to the beach to watch the water parade and fireworks. I'll bet dollars to donuts that this is some lawyer's idea. It was always nice to be somewhat spread out from other people while watching those things. It's really going to stink to have to stand on the pier or near the FW sign with a group of people trying to get a view and listening to some bratty kid (there is always one and yes, sometimes mine) complaining the whole time.

Honestly for July 4th, there is no way they can close the poly beach. That place is the zoo of all zoos and so many people pack in there to see the holiday fireworks. Just do not see how they can even poster the idea. Between the new villas blocking and smaller beach....

I hope they chill a bit and things go back to normal soon with fishing and fireworks beaches etc...

Looks like starting tonight or tomorrow night the beach will be open from 9:30pm till 10:30 pm for the fireworks and the EWP. If I wasn't so tired I would go down tonight and see for myself.

Great news! Thanks for the update!

My guess is things will settle down in a reasonable time and get back as close as they can to what many of us consider "NORMAL". Disney has been aware of this problem for a long time and has done an extraordinary job at preventing major incidents to date. Consider that 50 years ago The Disney we know of today was SWAMP land and Mr Al E Gator and his family were the principle occupants to have only 2 significant events with guests is nearly miraculous. Consider how many gator v man encounters there are annually in the state that don't get the national media attention of this event and you will see how rare they have been at Disney
I suspect that Disney's wildlife experts in connection with Florida's Dept. of Natural Resource is formulating a plan that will allow much of what we are used to but some changes will be made

True

Could be a gator...
Maybe a scuba diver...

Either way, best to not stop. In fact, don't even look back...just keep going.
