Why yes, yes I am Steve Prefontaine. Thanks for noticing. I thought no one would ever figure it out. Although I feel much better about cranking out a 13 minute MILE vs a 13 minute 5K.

Lily, I had a thought on how to manage all of the threads. How about putting one sticky that has the team rosters on it as well as a link to each team's ongoing thread? You could close it after that post or leave it open for general comments about the competition.

That way, everyone can go there to quickly find their team's thread to post their numbers to each week without putting 8 or more new sticky threads at the top.

Lily, I had a thought on how to manage all of the threads. How about putting one sticky that has the team rosters on it as well as a link to each team's ongoing thread? You could close it after that post or leave it open for general comments about the competition.

That way, everyone can go there to quickly find their team's thread to post their numbers to each week without putting 8 or more new sticky threads at the top.

I was also pondering placing it in the first post of the weekly walker/runner thread so we don't lose sight of the main weekly thread and since everyone would also be checking into the weekly thread anyway.

Ooh - I like that even better! I'd taken my idea from the photo board's Photo Contest sticky, so I hadn't even considered the weekly thread. That would also serve as a good reminder for everyone each week to post their miles/hours.

I dont know if anyone has a team or picture yet but I didnt find so I took some initiative. I thought since the finish line is in epcot, wouldnt it be appropriate to name our team "Team Epcot". Then I thought, "since Epcot is an anogram for Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow, why not make Epcot an anogram for our team." So I thought of Endurance Persistence and Confidence Obtained through Training. Then I threw together a picture. Unfortunately I can't figure out how to post the picture. Anyway if I figure it out ill post.

So, now we have a siggy pic that we all like (thank you Christy) but, I am still lacking a co-captain. Who wants to step up here. Also, I see Team 5 started their own bio thread which I think is an awesome idea. Would you all like me to start one too???

I can't wait for this competition to start already. I skied 7 miles on Saturday and another 5 on Sunday so I think I am prepared!! How about everyone else, ready to kick some butt!!!

Stacy, I am pretty sure you are just there for moral support and, in the event that I am either gone (vacation) or down for some other reason, you would have to make sure the adding is done right. Pretty much, I am just a figurehead anyway (i.e., cheerleader, motivational spokesperson, babysitter (oops did I say that LOL), etc.)

I would love to have you co-captain if you want to!!!!

Thank you Stacey for being a co captain. The captain's most work is right now. Getting the team together and choosing a name and picture if you want one. Once the game starts then the captain is just a cheerleader and to let me know if someone needs to drop out for injury, things like that.


Lily and Fan of Small world I love your ideas of linking the team logs to the weekly thread, I was wondering since we had so many players how we were going to keep room for our other fun threads. You guys are great.


We are closing in on the start date but we are still one player short of a full roster for team 8. Then we will do the sub/replacement pool.

I was so surprized at how well it went together. I never realized it would take off like this. It will give us more motivation to get our steps in.

Now.... to all participants. Should we have a Miles & Minutes Challenge Clippie or should we try to incorporate that into the individual team clippies or not even bother with it at all? Also, I mentioned this before but nobody responded so I don't know if it got lost in the thread or if nobody really likes the idea. Instead of waiting until the end of the year, should we have monthly winners as well. No prizes for them just bragging rights and maybe a cool clippie for their signature to use (temporarily) for the month following their "win." Just a suggestion.

I have 1 more question to add to the last few posted: If we have a central smack talking, dissin thread, can the captains post monthly totals on this just to increase the trash talk??? I think this would be motivational and an easier way for other teams to see where they stand with their miles/hours. Or, maybe not.....
