Yesterday was my seven-month-out day for my May DVC trip and I wanted to change my reservation from my home resort (OKW) to AKV. I could not do it yesterday because the system was down for modification.
I called at 9:00 AM and got my AKV villia. One change to the new system is that you can now simply transfer your reservation from one resort to the other without having to go through all of the steps you did before:
1) check availabilty at new resort
2) cancel previous reservation while hoping availablity at new resort does not go away.
3) make new reservation
It is now just one transaction without the risk of winding up with no reservation.:cool1:
Another change (oh how Disney likes to play with words) is that you do not get a "confirmation" number - you get a "travel Plan" number:;)

Now that sounds like a good change. I am always scared to make any changes in fear of losing my both the room I booked and the room that I am switching to.

I also hit my 7-month mark during the outage, but I booked my Beach Club Villas and switched my Bay Lake Tower this morning with no problems. Got through promptly at 9:00am and although the system was slow the call took 35 minutes, it was really quite easy from my end.

That is all good news to hear that the new system is operating and what they have added is a plus for members. Thanks for sharing. :thumbsup2

where is the self serve? is it on the old request a resevation? that does not work for me.

In less then 2 hours since changing my reservation to AKV I got my email confirmation from MS.
I called this morning and talked to a CM. I did not try the self-serve or on-line system.

I had great luck this am also. Got through right at 9am, no holding and switiched my SSR treehouse to a 2bd BCV. All done in ten minutes and got my email confirmation right after.

I'm so excited can't believe it went so smoothly and we got BCV.
I thought I would be on hold for an hour..

Maybe BCV is loosing popularity due to new Bay Lake Tower?

Called this morning and got my Aulani reservation (my 11 month window opened today).

Awesome.

Any improvement is appreciated, MS's computer system has been way behind the times! Glad to hear it's working!

I think the OP is saying that it's a change in the system that the CMs use. It's not for us to use yet.

I absolutely LOVE that we can switch resorts without having to cancel our original reservation first. That's a GREAT change!!!

I have been calling every day, trying to add a couple days to a reservation during Christmas week. Before, they had to check one resort, one room type at a time. Today, she scanned through all resorts, looking for a studio or a 1BR, and she has an answer in about 15 seconds or so. She said the new system that they use is MUCH more user-friendly, and MUCH fast than what they had before. Imagine that . . . a cast member that actually LIKES a Disney upgrade!?! I think I like it as well; does that mean I've caught something?? :rotfl2:

Now THAT is an improvement. I never could understand how they couldn't see all available resorts for the dates you're interested in.
Seems that they've fixed that, should help reduce call time to MS! :thumbsup2
