Updated Rules at WDW

I was fine until I got to #1 under "Company Rights".
They have, in the past, posted signs at the entrances warning when they would be taping in the parks. You then are free to avoid the taping by going somewhere else.

Really? That bums me out, but with this change, I wonder how that will affect attendance during that time? Maybe I will still go because I bet it will be a lighter crowd than in the past! ;)

Lighter crowds would be good. I go for the parade and shows. But my dh likes going in costume as does ds.

Before I write this i should say this ONLY pertains to mnshhp, I don't see a reason for adults to get dressed up for everyday, and that has always been in rules that they could not dress up on regular days. I'm also talking about mnshhp on Halloween itself mainly.

In DHS on jan 1st there were 2 adults I saw in costume, so obviously at moment its still as discretion. They were in full body animal pj costumes. I spoke to 2 cms about it and got different stories. One stated that it was ONLY costumes that could explicity be assumed to be a park costume (Princesses, haunted mansion guests, etc.) another told me it was all and that I shouldn't even buy a ticket for mnshhp if I liked costumes. So obviously no one really knows yet.

I personally cannot see a company that makes money off a halloween party for all forbidding for 14 plus over on halloween itself and possibly not for the other parties. A majority of families taht go will have children that are under and over 14, if they know going will only allow half of their children to participate they may refuse due to it being unfair to their kids. They also cater to a lot of people with disabilities, a parent with a child with an intellectual disability who is over 14 in age yet not in other ways may not take their child if they cannot enjoy it the way they want and they already had a lawsuit with ADA stuff. Also, when I went on Halloween it was more adults then children dressed up, we know these rules because of being on here, will they really turn away a bunch of people who show up who had no forehand knowledge? To me for a company that in the end is wanting to make money wouldn't want the bad publicity involved in turning any amount of people away.

Yesterday they were making every guest entering through the International Gateway go through the metal detector. That sort of makes me think that's where they want this to go but are testing it to see if they can accomplish that.

My hope would be that they would allow guests of all ages to attend MNSSHP in costume (don't care about regular park days), but that they would have to go through the metal detector before getting their wristband.

Part of the problem of course is that Disney sells too many tickets for this event, so whether it's possible remains to be seen. I doubt that they would reduce the number of tickets sold just to find a way to process guests in costume. But I also think they will sell fewer tickets if they go with their "no adult costumes" policy. Everyone I know who attends does it for the full family Halloween experience, and that includes costumes.

And might I add..... shame on Disney for once again not taking a firm stand on a policy (and allowing the adult costumes FeralCatRogue saw). Do it. Don't do it. But MEAN IT. Don't make it a policy only for those who choose to follow it.

There was a man dressed in an elf costume walking around World Showcase a few days before Christmas. He wasn't a CM and was touring with his family. He looked great! But it was clearly a costume. I'm surprised he was let in looking the way he did.

Wheeled mobility devices with less than 3 wheels or devices that cannot maintain stability and balance when stopped, unpowered or unoccupied. Training wheels or similar modifications are not permitted. Devices must be manually or electrically powered and operated at a walking pace. Devices should be single rider and not exceed 36" (92 cm) in width and 52" (132 cm) in length.

I wish what I bolded was enforced....It would avoid a lot of accidents.

O.K., this is dumb, but does this mean that adults cannot wear costume during the trick-or-treating (designated times) any longer? This may change my mind about going during Halloween next year! :)

No one knows for sure yet. Disney can certainly decide to allow costumes during the parties. They are more than 8 months off, after all.

Actually someone got an email back from Disney specifying that adults could NOT wear costumes to MNSSHP.

A lot of us are hopeful that will change. But as it stands the answer is no.

I have an upcoming trip and this was included in the "Know Before You Go" email.

PROHIBITED ITEMS
The following items may not be brought into the Parks:

  1. Recreational devices such as drones, remote control toys, skateboards, scooters, inline skates or shoes with built-in wheels.
I think they'll need to add hover boards to that list shortly. While it seems common sense under #1 above, I think we all know how common common sense actually is. o_O

SWW was the only time besides MNSSHP we would have gone in costume. But, sadly, since there is no SWW this year, don't have to worry about that.
