I asked this on the Resort Board and got no response so I'll try here.

For those of you who prepay for your resort by making partial payments over the phone.......How long did it take for your payments to post to your bank account? I want our resort paid for before we arrive and had made a payment Sept. 29th and its still not showing up in my bank statement. The deposit with the same card only took 3 days to show up.

I do not know the answer, but if I were you I'd call WDW to confirm that they show a payment was made.

Because we book FTP less than 45 days out, our trip had to be paid in full at time of booking. The payment was taken out of checking account within 4 days.

I would call immediately. Mine was posted a few hours after I made it. I don't like the fact that that don't give you a payment confirmation number or something.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! ahhhhhhhh that feels better.

Since I posted this on here and the resort board I'll post here what I "learned" today.

Full story:

This is for people who make room only reservations online.

I made a room only reservation online in September. At the end of September I called CRO to add $100 to my reservation. After checking my bank statement I notice the $100 payment has not gone through. So today I call CRO again and am told that I cannot make payments, requests or anything else since I made a room only reservation online. I asked the CM why then did another CM take my CC information and tell me I wouldnt receive a confirmation in the mail but that the payment had been applied to my reservation. He says well I have no clue and can do nothing about that. I asked why it did not state on their website that I would not be able to "do" anything to my reservation. Again he had no clue. He said that room only reservations were to be paid at check-in and could not be paid ahead of time.

I went back online to my reservation and the site itself says this
Existing Reservations
Already have an existing reservation? Enter your confirmation number (It's 8 digits long) and phone number below and select whether you want to view your reservation or make a payment. If your confirmation number is 12 digits long, please call (407) 939-7429 and our reservation agents will be happy to assist y

I did send them an email about this so I guess I'll just have to wait and see what they say. I really dont understand why they wouldnt want the room paid early. As for requests, I still plan to fax my request a few days before our arrival.

I would call and talk to another CM. I have a room only reservation. I paid my deposit by credit card and made a payment by credit card. I did have to be connected with another department. Both payments went through on my debit card. I would keep calling. It is much easier to have things paid off before hand.

They are not giving you correct information.

You can most certainly prepay a reservation. In fact, you must prepay it if it is booked through the travel company. 45 days out, I believe. 21 days out if you used a Disney Club discount.

We have prepaid our reservations several times before joining DVC.

Just call back until you get someone who knows what they are talking about.

How many digits is your reservation number?

and we always book a room-only because we have APs. I also normally pay in increments & my CC is charged within hours. I agree with everyone else, you need to call back & try to get someone in management to straighten it out for you.

Just another tip, we always OVER-PAY so we have a credit when we check in. That way we don't have a HUGE bill to look at our last morning!:smooth: I normally try to figure out how much we'll need for food & make sure I have enough credit to cover at least that. CMs are always impressed when I explain my method to them at check-in!!

dumbofan: just how do they handle the overpaid amount? do you still need a credit card but they deduct from the overpaid amount first? I'm not sure how they actually do the credit card thing, just assumed it was at the end of your stay. have you ever had problems with not being able to get any left over money back? I like this idea because I do not want to put stuff on a card but do not want to carry a bunch of cash either. someone said you can use a debit card instead of a credit card for charges but this would be easier since I always figure the less people messing with my checking account the better!

For some reason,

The CM's at check-in don't really know that you have "pre-paid"-at least the ones that we encountered didn't. They just say "you've paid x amount" and then they still ask you for a credit card. The authorize a certain amount on the CC. This happened to us last year at WL. We had overpaid and I mentioned that to the CM and she said "I can't figure that now".

I knew the amount showing on our account was more than our nights. We still put down a credit card and when we checked out nothing was charged on our credit card. We had just been charging stuff to the room and then the room rate was put on our account each night. This all came out to a little less than what our "deposit" was when we checked in.

Sorry if I sound confusing.

Thanks I think I get it...they did use up your deposit first though rather than crediting it to your card or something strange like that.

Jann, we normally give a cc "just in case", but they deduct from the room account first. If you don't use the entire amount, they credit it to the cc. I've learned that its less confusing to the CMs if you just ask to double-check the total amount on the account. Basically, they take the total you pay & deduct from that before they charge to the cc. Hope this helps!
