My first suggestion (as well as many others who have been interviewed before) is to SMILE!! It shows through the phone - my recruiter said she could see me smiling ear to ear
I applied last night for the
Disneyland College Program around 6:43 pm, got the invite for the web-based interview at 6:56 pm, completed the web-based interview, received the invitation to schedule a phone interview around 10:30pm so it went pretty quick through that process. My choices for a phone interview were Tuesday of next week (and several dates after that) so I chose the 7:15 pm PT slot. The recruiter who calls you is based in Florida as far as I know.
My next suggestion is to practice a few days in advance in front of a mirror (it may help or make you nervous). I did this and when it was time for the interview, I felt more relaxed. I recommend sitting up straight, maybe even dressing like it was an in-person interview so you will sound more professional and don't hesitate to ask questions without interrupting of course lol.
Also remember to print out the top 3 role descriptions you are most interested in to remind yourself what those jobs entail.
Also remember to give an alternate phone number for back up (and make sure you will be certain you have a good connection). When my recruiter called, I lost connection. She did leave a message and I tried calling her from my second # and luckily she tried that # and we connected.
My interview questions were primarily:
- Why did I apply to the College Program?
- What were my favorite roles and why did I choose these ones specifically?
- Provide information on the last job I worked at and describe how it relates to the roles I applied to.
- Do I enjoy working individually or in a team environment?
- Describe a time when you had to contribute to the team.
- Have I ever lived in a roommate or dorm situation? And if so, did I enjoy it?
- Do I prefer living alone or with several people other than members of my family?
- What would I do if it was late and I had to get up early for work and my roommates were being loud or partying?
I know there were others but can't remember them all. I applied for the Fall Advantage 2012 but didn't get in. I did mention in the interview that I was much older than other college applicants and she said it didn't matter. In fact, she asked if I would prefer a studio and I was hesitant to say yes because I wanted her to know I didn't mind living with others younger than me. But she said it was okay for me to get a studio if I wished which probably isn't the norm but she said she thought I would be more comfortable (unless she could find someone close to my age to room with). She was super super nice!
Good luck in the process - just be yourself, relax, and smile!
