We leave for vacation early Tuesday morning. Since DD11 is going to be surprised by swimming with the dolphins on vacation, I ordered her the first 4 books from the Dolphin Diaries series. I received the order today, and the seller only sent book 4! What good does that do me? I spent $25 for one book?!? I have contacted the seller and told him that if the other three can't be overnighted to me, then I need to return this one. I have never had a problem ordering from them before. It figures that the one time I am crunched for time (especially since no mail will run on Sun or Mon) would be the time that it messes up. Granted, in the long run, it's not that big of a deal b/c I can go buy her other books to read. It just irritates me that I have to deal with this.

Any suggestions on getting things taken care of?

UPDATE: I went ahead & printed the return label last night before reading your recommendations to wait. Now I am realizing that the return label will probably send it back to amazon instead of to the seller. Will Amazon try to return money to me since I already printed the paperwork? I don't mind hanging onto the book until I return and hear from the seller, but I'm afraid that I may have complicated things by printing off the return papers. What should I do now?

It seems you've already done what can be done at the moment. Contacted the seller (a third party not Amazon by your post) through the Amazon website and wait for them to respond.

I agree that there is not a lot that can be done. If it had been purchased directly through Amazon, they will usually do whatever they can to accommodate, but with a third party seller, the only thing Amazon can help with is a refund if the seller is not responsive or not helpful. Is there any chance you think they may have sent the other books out separately?

My problem now is that we leave for vacation and won't be back until June 15. Do you think it is ok to go ahead & return the item tomorrow since it's the only chance I'll have for a couple of weeks? I won't leave negative feedback unless I don't hear from the seller in a couple of days.

If I go ahead and return it tomorrow, how can I check that my money was refunded?

I came back b/c while thinking, I remembered that it's a holiday. Even if they did overnight something, it wouldn't get there on Monday.

I wouldn't return anything until you've heard from them. I would check their return policy, send them another email laying out what the problem is and that you'll need to buy them at a brick and mortar store, and that you will need to return the book because it wasn't shipped correctly, and that you'll expect it all to be refunded.

Then, wait until you hear back. Thoughts depending on the stated return policy...if it's 4 weeks I'd probably take the book with you and return it while on vacation if you'll have email...but if it's 8 weeks I would wait until you return.

Do make sure you've checked the shipping confirmation email (or shipping info on your account) to see if the others are on their way...

I also would not return anything until you hear from them. I believe Amazon will help you but you need to follow the instructions. If I remember right. You need to contact the seller and wait for them to respond a certain number of days. Unfortunately you have no choice. If you cannot resolve it between yourselves then you can contact Amazon. I had to do this once. I did get my money back. Also if you paid by credit card you can dispute the charge since you did not receive what you ordered.
Sorry this happened so close to your trip. Sending good vibes :goodvibes that this will get taken care of to your satisfaction.

Any chance your local library has the series? My library loans for 3 weeks, and also renews online.
Your daughter can take and read the loaners, and then (hopefully) have her own set at home when the seller make it right when you get home...
