Updated list of Refurbs for 2014

Sorry but I can't figure out that #*&$% map!!!! As of right now, what are the days for Matterhorn and Space Mt to be down?

Space: May 12 - June 26.

Matterhorn: May 27-Aug 14

Thanks! Looks like we'll be getting to DL on the day Space reopens, but will miss Matterhorn. That's ok - I can't handle that one anyway! My kid will be happy about Space!

Ohhhhh my gosh...... Our last full day in CA will be on 5/12 (the day Space goes down)...... Ohhhh I am soooooo very happy it's going to be open when we are there.... And same with the Matterhorn....

I would have been torked a lot if they would have gone down during our trip...

I don't think I could have taken it if Small World, POTC, Indy (which is scheduled to open during our visit), Space, and Matterhorn were ALL down during our visit.... On top of the other rides down (Nemo, Alice, and others) during that time.... That is A LOT of rides down.... And the visitors don't get any kind of compensation!!!!!

Just wanted to add that BTMR had its trains running unoccupied tonight around 10pm. I'm sure they've been doing this for a while now, but wanted to confirm it.

That's AWESOME!!!!! It was down when we were there last June. I can not wait to ride it in May.

I made a lunch reservation today for Blue Bayou for April 29. I specifically asked if the restaurant was open even though POC would not be operating and was told BB would indeed be open. I'm holding out hope that the ride will be magically running since it was the one attraction that was closed on our last trip.

Checking this post often in case something miraculous happens and BTMR opens up by the time we're in the park Marc 19th. :)

Me too! We will be there Mar 9-13 but could switch 13th to the 14th if BTMRR opens. Hoping for a soft opening while we are there. Closed last time and after this we won't be back for quite awhile.....

We got AP for 1 yr... Expires on 3/16.....please be back up before then!!!!

At least three major attractions will be down while we are there. I think Disney has a lot of nerve charging full price for admission when this happens. If they cannot provide full service, then they should not be charging full price.
I would cancel our trip, but my grandkids would be heartbroken.

Four major attractions were down while we were there (BTMRR, Splash, IASW, Nemo) and while it was a bummer to miss some of those and it did put a strain on other rides, we did not feel we should get a discount due to the closures. There are so many things to do a couple majors being down is not the end of the world. As has been pointed out many, many times, people complain when rides break down and people complain when they take rides down to do refurbs so they will not break down so often. it's a no win situation. Once again, Disney failed to please all of the people all of the time.

I guess it bothers me because so many families save for years to be able to take their family to DL, then major rides are down. They can't just come back a month later when they're back up. Maybe 2014 should have been a discounted-admission year for Disney.

"Cast Member testing continues through March 8th, with a tentative opening date to park guests now pegged for March 17th. However soft openings with the new show effects turned on could begin as soon as next Monday. With so many other attractions closed for refurbishment, Disneyland desperately needs the ride capacity of over 2,000 riders per hour that Big Thunder can pull in. They can’t get this ride back up and running soon enough."

Every time I hear this, it confuses me. Rides always go down; some scheduled others not. I know it sounds like 2014 is a huge year, but it honestly doesn't have more down than other years, maybe just more together. I think the ongoing BTMRR refurb has made everybody a little antsy and set of a tail spin of feelings. And your'e upset they'll be down during your trip, but I ask when should Disney refurb these? It will always be during somebody's trip. And I can tell you we went for Thanksgiving where we were paying premium for hotels & food and many of the major attractions went down because they need full refurbs. I 100% understand the frustration, but 3 rides, even major ones should not be enough to make or break a trip.

Exactly. You just said it much better than I just did.

Good news! Thanks for sharing!

I'm a WDW vet, and we've decided to go to DLR this year in May. Looking now like we picked the wrong time to go, as several of the rides I was most interested in are shown as being down:

Space Mountain
IASW
Pirates of the Caribbean
Alice
Nemo's Subs
Grizzly River Run

The top three, I was interested in because I had heard the California versions were better. The other three are completely new to me.

We'll still go and still have a good time, I'm sure, but it's pretty disappointing -- particularly with respect to not getting to see the original Pirates...

We're not going back for at least two years and I don't feel cheated at all.

Do you also think it's unfair to charge the same price when the hours are 10-8 as they do with it's 8-midnight? The parks are open 60% longer on peak days compared to off-peak. I'm more inclined to grab a soapbox about this than I am about ride maintenance.

Thanks for the article. We don't have a summer 2015 trip planned but if they get the Electrical Parade back (and I don't understand the author's groan to that!), we may have to!
Probably because the Electric Parade is so old, but I am with you. Maybe it is just nostalgia (loved it as a kid). I was very sad when it got shipped off to Florida before our Summer 2010 trip.
