~UPDATED!.Just Back From Disney!!!~ Boy Do I Have Some Things That I Observed!!!!!!!~

You're too sweet. You have to admit I am on the short side. You and Dan made me look like a midget. Bill's Mom has disappointed when we got married because his whole family is tall and he would be breeding w/ a short a person. :)

Hey Janet!! Very nice meeting you at AK the other day, along with Coral, (m&m's mom), and her family again. Coral, your girls have grown so much since I met them in Dallas some years back. And great to meet you and your hubby too, Misty, there in MGM as I was leaving. Wow, lots of memories on this thread. :cool1:

I agree with a number of the points mentioned here, Janet. This past week, I have been under the impression that there was an international cleavage contest being held in WDW. And many of the 'ladies' were trying their best to win. Not just fashion décolleté, but trashy look, and all ages, young teens to 'ladies' in the 50's, maybe older. And double, they looked pigs.

And smoking. One clod was smoking ahead of Feralpeg, her DD, Kendall and I yesterday as we walked across the hub. Kendall, was coughing all day from bronchitis and is alergic to smoke. I asked, politely, if the guy would either put it out or go to a smoking area. He looked at me, glaringly, like I had three heads. He said, 'no'. I told him I would ask a CM to ask him. I did, she did. He put it out in his hand , calling me an ******* as he did. Nice family man. :rolleyes2

It was so nice seeing you again Dan. My normal time to go is Nov/Dec as well so maybe we both need to go back to that time of the year.

I love the cleavage contest comment. That whole paragraph sums it up perfectly!

Creepy guy smoking. That was quite nice of you to stand up for her.

I do not havea problem with the strollers as much as I do with someone with "stroller rage" and they are coming at you commando style and trip you!!!!!!!!!! that is what I have huge problem with(yes, I got bruised on my footal region!) ;)

:earseek:

I was pushing my daughter in a stroller--and this will be hard to explain--but almost had a head on collision with a woman in a wheelchair...and I got the dirty look  .

We were coming from the land---took a right at innoventions to head towards Spaceship Earth--there is a cut through with posts.....I was coming out of the posts and she was going in. In proper Disney etiquette fashion....I was there first and I had the right of way so I proceeded....had trouble turning the stroller to avoid the woman in the wheelchair....so it might have looked like I was doing stroller rage...when in reality it was the opposite "wheelchair rage". I have a wheelchair, get out of my way!!!!!!

Everone with wheels should watch for those who don't--b/c those wheels will HURT!

yes, those wheels hurt way to much! I had also had kids spraying me with water...and the worse one was in the quite pool, I was the only one there for 3 hours when along came 2 boys....just had to get right up onme and splash me ....om purpose, I asked them to stoip....it got worse...mom did NOTHING..if I was there mom...I would have pulled them out of the pool at the very least!

As a frequent park attendee, I have now taken a new attitude towards the rude people that think they own the world.
Memorial Day EPCOT was quite busy. The line to Soarin was backed up to a 2 hour wait time. People thought if they just plowed through the line mumbling something about FAst Pass having problems and they were told by CMs to cut through the normal line! :confused3 This caused the line to at many times to not even move for more than 10 minutes at a time. Finally, after about 50 (no kidding) people had plowed through, we in line started asking to see these supposed Fast Passes. NOT ONE person could produce one, yet the Cm at the top of the line was allowing these people through!
Needless to say there was just about a mutiny!

My DH gets mad when I speak up or push back or tell someone off (nicely of course) but thats too bad! There are some people that think they are special and I have made it my job to set them straight! :teeth:

People are just getting ruder all over. I just got back from Publix and had to put some idiot in his place over there as well! :rotfl:

That's fine for women, but how can a parent allow their child to walk around like that?

I don't know but if I tried to dress like some of the teens do these days my mother would have grounded me for months.

If I dress like that--I think I'd ground myself. Beat mom to the punch.

And if anyone sees an almost 50yo woman at Disney World wearing Harley attire that looks a tad bit on the small side....send her to the naughty corner for me :teeth: . I apologize in advance for my Harley Mama. :guilty:

girl, you never have to apolpgize for anything HARLEY!!!!!! ;)

More rudeness...the last time or two we went to WDW we were amazed at the amount of gum left in certain places in the rides. Splash Mountain comes to mind first. In the queuing line there is a place on the wall filled with leftover gum. Also IN THE RIDE ITSELF! :crazy2: It must be a fun challenge for some rude people to attempt to get their gum in a certain place on the wall. There was a wall of gum on the scenery in the ride. Who do they think is going to clean this up? Imagine having to be the CM to clean this every day. My children (DS11, DD8) even noticed it and were very confused as to why someone would do this!

Fast Forward 30 years. All those half-naked teens are sitting on a discussion board lamenting the fact that our society has gone totally downhill due to what the "kids" today are wearing. Saying things like "I would never have ventured out in public like that", totally forgetting the societal standards they pushed when they were young.

It has happened. We have become our parents!

I know in the 70's, I was a bridesmaid in a very upscale wedding. The bridesmaids dresses were halter dresses. My parents were fit to be tied that I would be standing up at a wedding "half naked" and worst of all - NO BRA! One would have thought the world was coming to an end.

So, as somebody mentioned before, we are just seeing a return to the clothes we wore in the 60's and 70's. Not to worry. Their turn to be horrified at the dress of the youth will be here soon enough!

I remember poor behavior long ago so the behavior now does not shock me.I saw The Village People perform at a special event and a woman pulled out a small bottle of vodka and then shared it with a friend for the duration of the concert.Space Mountain in the past did not have chairs just handrails so you would have somebody literally sitting between your legs,I saw a boy pull down a girl's tube top and latch on as the ride turned the first corner. Before there was a one sheet map there was a guidebook,my friend and I would tear pages from the guidebook and wad them up and throw them around the Haunted Mansion.Provocative sayings on a t-shirt just seem like a distraction from the fact that one is wearing cheap clothing.I remember that little alligator on the polo shirt and the other little animals department stores sold which were fashionable with the collar turned up.People giggled recently at the Hall of Presidents when our 43rd started speaking, his gestures looked girlish which I did not notice before so that misbehavior improved my satisfaction with the experience.

You know I'm all for fashion it comes and goes. But my pet peeve is just plain old manners. It's really become a I'll get whatever I can out of something type world. Maybe my parents were old fashioned but man let's just use manners!

What's with the preteens and teens and the super short shorts and skirts? I couldn't believe the things I saw girls wearing when we were there last month. Isn't there a point when mom or dad says NO you can't wear that?
Most of the kids I saw dress this way were walking around with their parents. :confused3

I remember when my sister and I were teens and we tried to get away with wearing things that were to short or tight. My dad would look and say "nice pajamas." Or my mom would say," I guess you're planning to stay in the house all day." :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Unfortunately these girls are pretty much already "not wearing" these clothes since they are showing stuff off to the world that would get someone arrested as a child pornografer if they had a picture of that child in thier vacation pictures.

When we were at WDW in Dec. we witnessed several incidents of rude behavior, more than I remember in the past. There were people cutting in line to see characters, whistling for characters at character meals, standing right in front of people at shows, just plain attitudes that they were more important and their vacation was more important than anyone elses. My DH and I decided that it was best to use these incidents as a learning opportunity for our children in how "not" to behave! We had some CMs apologize to us for these other people's behavior and thank us for being so understanding and patient. What else were we going to do? I do agree with one of the first posters that we have never seen as much of this behavior at WDW before this last trip, and we were very disappointed. It could start to take some of the magic away, but we can't let it!

It is everywhere not just at WDW. Unfortunately, our society is becoming more of a "me first" attitude. The rest of us have to try to counter that with a less self-centered attitude and maybe some of us can rub off on them.

Try not to let it spoil your trip. Try to sprinkle those people with pixie dust and maybe they will change. Sorry if this sounds too sappy, I don't mean it to, but I don't want to give these people that much control over my life.

You know, in all of my trips to Disney, I can't remember ANY bad behavior? Am I just oblivious or lucky?

I am thinking the previous poster is just lucky.. :)

Do I have to tell the story of the little boy in line with his family for Splash Mountain again......seems he needed to go to the bathroom, and the parents proceeded to take him to a tree area, right where we were standing and away from where they were standing and allowed him to urinate there.. OK... we were in shock and wanted to say something... but what do you say?? I am pretty good at speaking up but this was a little boy and they were speaking in a foreign language. I figured if I tried to say anything, they probably did not speak English. I think I told a CM but they were long gone.

I have seen it all at one time or another. My husband and I like to refer to those people who the rules do not apply to as "the entitled." You know the ones who park in handicapped parking with no reference to being handicapped or the ones who run red lights or take a left turn on a red light. Or how about the people who get in the single line for a ride and you know they are a couple and then they try to schmooze the CM loading the cars, "can't we just go together." I have seen that one many times at Test Track.

Oh well!!!!!! :) :)

O.K. -- 'ya got me! This is the worst thing I have ever done to "go against authority". I got in the "10 Item Only" line with over 30 items at the grocery store. True story. :rolleyes1

I know, I know. It was selfish and rude. I was sooo in a hurry. I know, no excuses. The worst part was, I was paying cash and mis-estimated my purchases so I had to have the cashier take back some items. Boy was I embarassed! Talk about BUSTED! If I was behind me I think I would have smacked me in the head with a pack of gum! ::yes::

I have NEVER done that again! :sad2:

I guess if this is the worst thing I have ever done in my life, I shouldn't feel too bad, huh?

There are so many instances of rudeness, that there is no longer any forgiveness. Has anyone found that? For example...

We were at Epcot, it was late, our one DS was little, but too big for a stroller. We were FAR from the exit and DS was exhausted. A CM spotted us...approached us with a wheelchair, and MADE us take it (no lie.) We resisted at first ("no no, we'll be fine), but eventually took him up on it. What a relief! I don't think we would have made it out otherwise.

So we get to the bus stop, ditch the wheelchair properly (we were told to just park it aside and it would be picked up later.)

OMG!!! When DS got up and walked on to the bus, you should have seen the glares. The dirty looks and whispers continued all the way back to the resort - I was horrified.

Point is...don't be too quick to judge. I mean obvious stuff like public urination is a no-brainer. But basically you are seeing little teeny clips of folks' behaviors. In their whole lives, you might witness one of their bad moments and we all have those.
