I agree wholeheartedly however not everyone buys enough gift cards let alone any. A friend of mine here on the DIS is not in the gift card game., instead she uses her no fee Disney Visa only and thinks it's the best thing ever. We've even seen posts here where some are still thinking 5% is a solid discount, which for them very well could be. Whatever works, right?

Totally agree, not arguing against the post at all! Just comparing/contextualizing. I may be a bit too much of a min-maxer myself . There are also times that outside suppliers have beaten GC discounts, but it’s really rare in my experience (though I am only a few years in).

I was just making sure all my purchases were tracking, which they are but when I looked into each transaction I've made with the new 15% cashback promotion, I was surprised at the subtotals being wrong thus making my cashback less. I've already contacted Rakuten so we'll see what they have to say.

Update time!
So Rakuten reached out and asked me to send them the confirmation emails with item purchased, price, discount, subtotal and grand total. They also wanted to know what method of payment I used. Getting all those orders together was a little time consuming as I had several but we're talking about a big difference in cashback owed. Well worth my time.
