I recently started using this app and had read about the driving slowly past idea, but haven't tried it yet. Do you just always keep the app open or do you have to open it when you're in close proximity to the store and then manually click on the right store in the app?

I don't do the slow drive by but I do work across the street from a TJ Max and when I open the app to run my 3 videos for the day it usually can pick up the walk in kicks.

Saw this today in my chase account..... I wonder if they sell Disney gift cards and if it would work

Hmmm, back in 2017 DoC of Credit posted an Amex Offer for Big Lots, a poster asked Does Big Lots sell third party gc? The response was No, but I'll still have a look see.

There are a few Amex offers for hotels that I didn't list due to the traveling time frame and how some may view the coronavirus. Please check your offers and if you feel I should post them let me know. :flower3:

It depends on the store whether a drive by will work, but's it ALWAYS worth a try.
I have the app open, but you don't have to select the store. (I have never had it work with my phone off or in another app)
CVS, I can be across the street! Best Buy, I only have to drive by their door. Oshkosh and Carters I have to get in the store, but I have walked up to the door, found out they were closed, but still got the kicks.

I love doing Shopkicks! Right now I have enough kicks to get $150 in DGC. I'm holding on to them for now because they have done "specials" in the past where you can trade in the kicks at a discount for DGC (usually 5%).

I keep the Shopkick app open and refresh as I get closer to get my "drive-by" walk-in kicks. Some stores are easier to do as a drive-by because of where the beacon may be located within the store. Some stores I just know that I'll have to physically go into the store.

I started saving for my October 2020 trip back in November. I've earned $425 (including the $150 mentioned above) so far just with Shopkick. I moved last October to a more rural area. I'm about 10 miles in one direction and 16 miles in the other direction to the nearest Shopkick opportunity. I sometimes will use the online shopping for kicks, but most times I can get a better cash-back return via RMN or the like. So at least one day each week, I have designated as a "Shopkick Day" and get as many as I can from walk-ins and scans. I rarely do kicks for purchases, since most of the featured items are things that i'm not interested in buying to begin with. I also make sure daily to get my minimum 3 kicks on the Discover page and any extra kicks attached to the adds within the app.

I just wanted to share that this can be done if you put the effort into it. My goal is to get $1000 in DGC via Shopkick before October (I'm almost half-way there).
Thank you! I did not know about the specials, but I am going to stop cashing out my kicks in case another one comes up at the right time!

I know this thread is about buying discounted gift cards, but does anyone know about selling them?

I screwed up (kinda). I paid for a Disney hotel room using discounted Disney gift cards from Target. Then changed the reservation to be fewer nights.

Refund went back onto gift cards. It’s a lot of $$, and while we’ll spend most of it on our trip (food, souvenirs)…I’m concerned we won’t spend all of it. Plus, it prohibits us from mobile ordering (right? can’t pay for mobile orders with gift cards?), which majorly sucks.

Is there an easy way to convert these back to cash? I looked at a few gift card resale sites and the payment seems pretty low (<80%). Appears they aren’t returnable to Target either.

Check your Amex offers if you have a Carnival/Princess/Holland cruise planned! This was on my personal Platinum.

Spend $500, get $100 back on World's Leading Cruise Lines (Carnival, Holland America, Princess, Seaborn, Cunard) expires 3/31

You're perfectly fine here and on topic. Sorry you're in a pickle. I googled
"how to sell gift cards" and several sites popped up: The Penny Hoarder,
Money Crashers, DoughRoller etc. They pretty much all say the same thing.
I don't know how much of a discount you received when you paid for them, maybe 5% using your RedCard? If that's the case, you're going to loose money trying to sell them. Can you not hold onto them for a future trip? They never expire.

Are you not planning to go back any time soon? If it were me, I'd just keep them to use toward another trip. You won't get much for them if you try to sell online, which defeats the purposes of buying at a discount.

Yes, 5% off using Redcard.

This is our last Disney trip for a long while (never say never, but it's not in our plans for the next 5 years of family vacations). And we don't really buy stuff from Disney store either.

I suppose we'll spend what we're able to spend on the trip and deal with leftovers when we get back from the trip.

I would hold them and save them for a future trip. But if you don't want to do that maybe try card cash? They seem to offer the best rates from what I've seen but you will lose money. You can also try eBay.
