I'd say talk to him, but I'd be repeating myself. It might just be who I am, but I talk to everyone. Don't knwo what to say? you would be stunned how far, "hi" can get you. don't worry about looking stupid. I spend half my life looking stupid to someone somewhere. I don't care. You just have to move on, because you know what? The people you are scared of looking stupid in front of are just as sacred of looking stupid. I have no problem talking to some guy that I am head over heels for, you know why? because I don't care what impression I am leaving, because I'm leaving one. So TALK TO HIM!!

I totally know what you're saying. There's this guy I like who hardly knows I exist, and the one time I talked to him, I felt like I was doing everything wrong!
