I am amazed how far my thread went regarding my concerns over our purchase at BCV. Looking back over the replies I guess my post did seem a little over the top!

I must say I've been having fun planning future trips since we joined DVC. I'm really looking forward to all the trips I've planned out so far. I would like to try all the WDW DVC resorts over the next couple years. I'm WDW obsessed and this is perfect for me.

I'm not planning on selling our BCV points. But, I must admit the negative posts did start to get the best of me. I started worrying about going with my husband or taking my parents and the room not being clean and/or something else and how they would think I was foolish to plunge ahead with this purchase. Silly, cause like most pointed out Disney resorts are usually much better than the typical hotel room any day. It is true expectations are higher when we go to WDW so any smaller problems are more quickly picked up on.

We stayed at BCV by renting points shortly after it opened and it was so perfect, including our view of IllumiNations and Spaceship Earth all lit up at night, my then 4 year old thought this was so amazing. (Note she never noticed the traffic below us! :p) I just couldn't believe the posts I kept reading since the resort is still so new.

Plus, like I'm sure many can understand, many of my friends and family don't understand my desire to go to WDW so often anyway.

I have to admit I struggle with the half empty glass syndrome. The replies back really helped. I want to enjoy our DVC membership. I really, really do. Going to WDW really makes me happy and by us joining I'm guaranteed a fix often.

I just wanted to apologize to any who took my thread the wrong way. I don't want to sell, but I suppose with any big purchase you want to know you made the right decision. The negative posts weren't helping that. I realize now I have to take these posts more lightly. True, there might always be some problems, but everyone takes their experiences in different ways.

I'm not planning on visiting BCV again until later next summer. But I think VWL a couple nights right before Christmas will be a good start to our DVC experience?!?

Thanks everyone.

Shan,

I'm glad your not selling your points. I have to admit that I felt the same way before I got to HH. Will we like it? Is the room HC accessible? It was one of the best trips we've taken. BCV is our home & we will be going there in May. I hope you like WLV!!! Please give us a trip report!

Shan....no need to apologize. Glad you're more at peace with having BCV's as your "home" resort. You really can't go wrong with DVC especially is you're a disney nut like the majority of us here. :teeth:

ACTUALLY... I copied and pasted the post into my inbox to check the spelling for me before I posted it.

Nick, you caught me! :teeth:

Shan,
Sometimes when I find myself obsessing or worrying over various things, I stop and remind myself of how lucky I am to have my health, family etc. With all the problems and suffering in the world, it helps put things in perspective for me.

Enjoy your next trip and try not to fret if things aren't absolutely perfect. I'm sure your family will be happy to be spending time with you. I'm glad you are keeping your points.

I just came back from a good trip to Orlando - we stayed in the Hilton Grand Vacation Club at Seaworld - the whole time mother missed OKW.

You will love the BCV - it is so much better than even a great timeshare off-site - because it is on-site - that is a big, big difference.

Now I love the HGVC - it is a wonderful place, the people are great, the service is excellent - but it is not DVC.

Don't worry about your purchase - believe me when I purchased back in 93 - I was kidded alot - but it is one of the best things I have ever purchase for me and my family - my brother could not afford a vacation on his own - gets to take his kids to WDW every year - mother and I go at least once - then I probably go 2 to 3 times with friends and my solo trips - it is great!!!!

Shan....glad to hear that you'll be with us for the next 39 years!! :)

And you will be starting your "DVC experience" with an incredible highlight....VWL at Christmas!! Doesn't get much better than that, IMHO. ::yes::

I agree, you are making a perfect start. IMHO, there is no better DVC place to be than VWL during the holiday season. The whole resort just exudes Christmas and atmosphere, and is so warm and cozy you will fall in love. Did anyone say add-on? We had to own points at VWL just so we could guarantee a stay there every December!

Glad to see your worries are laid to rest. After that first trip to BCV youll really look at those neg posts in a different way cause youll see how great BCVs are and youll wonder what the naysayers are talking about. By the way, youre gonna love WLV at Christmas. Hot chocolate by that cozy fire. MMMM!::yes::

Wilderness Lodge at Xmas is just what the doctor ordered for DVC blues

I think you made the right decision. Go and enjoy your first stay as a member at BCV and form your own opinions. Then if you are still not happy, you can sell then. I think BCV will be in more demand once the $10.00 drops from SSR, and I don't think you would have any trouble in the resale area. That being said, I don't think you will decide to end up selling once you stay there again.

And as said before, it seems that each time a resort opens, unsatisfactory opinions are generated. Now that there are more members than ever before, you hear more opinions. :chat: :chat: :chat:

Enjoy your upcoming stay at VWL.
