I'll post this on the rumors board, too, but....

MousePlanet.com is reporting that Tarzan Rocks will be closing in September. Because of the noise that Expedition Everest will create, the theater will be renovated to be completely air-conditioned and enclosed. There will (possibly) be a new Jungle Book show when the theater re-opens. The Tarzan Rocks show will be shipped off to Hong Kong Disneyland.

Personally, this is great news as our family despises the Tarzan show, but loved the old Jungle Book show that the theater used to show.

Just thought I'd post this news here so that you definitely see the show this summer if you love it...and so that you don't plan on seeing the show if you're going after September.

Dang, it used to be Jungle Book and it bit compared to TR. AC sounds good though. Something totally new would be good, just not JB. :sad2:

I will have to make sure to see the show when we go in June. I thought it was a good show. Not as good as Festival of the Lion King, but my family and I enjoyed it. If the rumor is true, then I think they need to rethink things because I feel that Tarzan and Jungle Book should be represented in some way. :)

Woo hoo! Good riddance!
I cannot stand Tarzan Rocks. Went to it once, never again. The lounge singers combined with X-games skating is a combination I'm not a big fan of.

I can't say I really love Tarzan Rocks, but it sure hasn't been around all that long. (Though its predecessor lasted far shorter.) But I am glad to see the addition of A/C to just about anywhere in AK. But I am curious as to why they would create a new Jungle Book show, after already having one. I only hope that removing Tarzan from AK doesn't lead to him "taking up residence" in the Swiss Family Treehouse like he did in Disneyland. They couldn't be that dumb, could they? But hopefully between the new show and Expedition Everest, Animal Kingdom will start getting a bit more of the credit it deserves. :sunny:

I really enjoyed Tarzan rocks both times I saw it. It's a very unique and creative show that I think plays nicely to the spirit of the film. I will miss it when it's gone, guess I better make sure to see it one last time in two weeks!

When in September is it closing, and why don't you like the show?

Angey77 answered for me, I think. Disney attemtpting to be hip just doesn't work in my book.

As for when it's closing - the article doesn't say. Once again, as of right now, I would say that this is a rumor, although the article says that cast members of the show have already been told and are being given the decision to travel with the show or not.

Wow, I'm shocked so many people disliked the show. I cant believe how so many people don't LOVE listening to about 25 minutes of some of the BEST disney music to ever be created.

Phil Collins' score is probably right near the top of the best ever, and the removal of this show, which is one of the few things teens love (rock and extreme stunts) at AK, will be missed.

I will miss it. If you don't get chills enjoying the music, you're not really into the Disney magic.

Believe me, those of us that don't like Tarzan Rocks are definitely in the minority on these boards. There's been many a debate on Tarzan Rocks.

That being said, give me the music of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman anyday over Phil Collins's stuff. While I like the music to Tarzan and Brother Bear, I don't get the chills I feel when listening to the score or the songs of "Beauty and the Beast" or "Hunchback of Notre Dame."

I couldn't agree with you more! We just saw the show again last week, and we still LOVE it!

Oh darn! I liked that show a lot! I didn't see it when I was there 2 weeks ago, but, I figured no big deal, since I go twice a year now. It will be gone by the time I go back in Nov :sad2:

Wow, actually I'm surprised that anyone likes the music at all! I though the songs were some of the worst 'pseudo-rock' crud I've ever heard. I got chills all right, chills of terror that I might be trapped forever listening to that sound. But hey, to each their own.

And I'm a Disney fanatic who is definitely 'really into the Disney magic' so I certainly disagree with you on that point.

I liked this show myself. However, I really wish Disney would change all the shows and parades every few years. For those of us that go often it keeps it fresh. So, while I think it was a great show-- very unique-- I am ready for something new.

I will miss it too! :guilty: I am not too thrilled about the Jungle Book! :sad2:

We saw Tarzan Rocks once and really wanted to leave before it was over but didn't because we didn't want to be rude. But we really thought it was awful.

have never seen it
but DS13 & I do have plans to see it in August

I CONCUR!
I am a HUGE Disney fan and I don't think many people can be more into the magic than me (married at Disney, dreaming of DVC, avid Disney DVD collector, the "go-to" among my family for WDW planning), but that has nothing to do with the fact I have never been a fan of Phil Collins.
Now if someone says something about the score from the Lion King, we might have to tangle :earboy2:

Our DS10 would beg us not to make him sit through "Tarzan Stinks!" I had to agree with him. The music was awful.

Lori

We really enjoy the Tarzan show, so we'll make sure we see it again next week at WDW, sounds like it might be our last chance. I don't remember a Jungle Book show - but JB is one of my favorite Disney movies, so I'm definitely interested in this! :) I think AK should stick with a show that is based off of a movie that stars animals. They already have the Lion King show at Camp Minnie-Mickey - I'd be happy to see Jungle Book, Bambi, or something similar. :)
