I think I did a boo-boo!

I vaguely remember signing up for something the other day through SR where I filled out my standard email/name/addy/phone number, etc and then on the second page I noticed something about changing my long distance service over. At that point, I think I just closed the page. But, I admit that I did NOT read everything on the first page.

Now, I was just looking through my email and found the following email. I'm afraid to email back because I don't know if it is a phishing email or whether I really signed up for this! My DH will kill me if I switched our long distance service!

I wish I could help you but I don't have any info. I tried google for Horizon Telecom and got a home page but not much information.

It would be interesting to find out if you really could switch your home phone long distance server over the internet.

I wonder if this just isn't spam and they are trying to get information from you?? Seems fishy but well written!

Don't use any links in the email.

I'm thinking this may have been from the Advertiser's Clearing House offer (for 30 or 40 cents). I can't get to the link to check it out though, because I've already done the offer.

Could someone click on the link and PM me the website so I can check? I'd REALLY appreciate it!

Thanks for trying! I googled it too but can't find anything. The thing is that I do remember filling something out a few days ago and I submitted the first page. I don't think I read it well though and then saw the phone thing on the second page with another form that I did NOT submit but maybe the first form signed me up anyway?

UPDATE:
Well, I just received my phone bill, and although Horizon Telecom is not mentioned on the bill, I do have a charge of 19.21 for JPLvoicemail billed through ILD Teleservices. I just called ILD and they gave me a number for JPL to dispute the charges. Before I even said anything, the guy at JPL asked for my phone number and asked ME if the charges were an error. Hmmmm... why does that sound like they expected this and like it happens all the time?? Something sounds fishy. He claims the charge will be credited within two billing cycles. Now I just have to wait.

Of course, I have no idea if this charge is related to the initial problem, but it seems like a strange coincidence.

Anyone else experiencing something like this?

We did have that happen before on our phone because of something that we accidently clicked on the internet...amazing how that can happen! But they did credit us...so that is nice.

That is good to hear! DH is not going to be happy but hopefully the credit will show up on our next bill. Funny thing is, the phone bill is in DH's name and Verizon won't even talk to me regarding the bill because my name isn't on it! But yet, this company is allowed to put this charge on the bill using my name! Crazy.
