Update post 62---Prayers for my Uncle- he basically was dead on my living room floor

Hugs and prayers to you and your family.

Michelle,

I am so sorry that your family is going through this. You and yours will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Michelle I will continue to keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there, know that we are all here for you.

oh Michelle, I'm so sorry. I can tell how rattled you are from all of that and I know from personal experience how you replay it in your head over and over.

I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.

What a terrifying ordeal it must have been. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Thank you all for the kind words, thoughts and prayers. He is holding stable, they will stop the hyperthermic treatment around 1pm today and the next 24 hours they warm him up- so by tomorrow lunch time he could potentially wake up and we will hopefully know something tomorrow afternoon regarding his brain function. He doesn't have an official DNR, but he has a handwritten note at home, my aunt said- he doesn't want to live as a 'vegetable'. So if the worst has happened and he was deprived for too long of oxygen, then that decision will be made. I hope it doesn't come to that. time will tell.

thank you again!

Thinking of your uncle and your family, sending thoughts and prayers.

So sorry to hear this Michelle. My prayers are with you, you're uncle, and family. If it offers any hope, something somewhat similar happened to my dad two years ago. He blacked out (heart attack) while driving and got in an accident. He was technically dead at the scene.

Luckily he hit a house with the car and the occupants immediately called 911 so paramedics were there within minutes. They were able to restore breathing but he was unconscious like your uncle and we had no idea as to the extent of damage. The end result was he regained conciousness and had no loss of memory. I hope the same holds true for your uncle.

anything that is sudden is always scary. no matter what the situation is. I remember my last moments with my mom like it was an hour ago, and I lost her this past August. The week she passed she was about to start experimental drug therapy for her cancer, but the cancer had spread thru her bloodstream so quickly that she didn't even have a chance.

It's never in our hands.
You should never hold guilt or say "what if I had done this or that"
Enjoy every moment you have with them because we are never promised tomorrow, nor the next hour.

I will keep you, your family & your uncle in my prayers. You are going thru some tough struggles right now. Hang in there.

My thoughts and prayers for you and your family. It's a good thing he had a lot of people there who knew what they were doing until the paramedics arrived.

Wow, my thoughts are definitely with you and your family. What a scary situation and thank goodness you had CPR trained people in your house at the time. I am hoping for the best for you!

I agree that you did all you could. I'll keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.

By the sounds of it your uncle had everything possible to increase his chances of making a full recovery, theraputic hypothermia after cardiac arrest has made a huge difference to neurological outcomes and the fact that he had bystander CPR quickly should make a huge difference. Please do not give up hope, I had a patient last year survived 100 minutes of CPR with 15 shocks who is now back at work and doing fine.

Thoughts and prayers are with you, fingers crossed for a recovery xx

Reading your account of what happened brought tears to my eyes because it sounded exactly the same as what happened when we lost my uncle last year. He wasnt as lucky to have someone with cpr experience around, paramedics tried but he had let go by that time.

I am praying for your Uncle and your family right now! I pray God's healing hand touches him now!

Your Aunt did the very best thing for him she ever could. She gave him the best odds possible. This is a great illustration of how important it is to know CPR; it's simple for everyone to contact their local hospital to find a class in your area. You never know when you'll need it!

Please keep us posted on his status.

How scary for all of you! My thoughts are with you and you family.
