My dad was at the hospital today talking to Alex's wife. Alex had surgery today to repair his kidneys, liver, took out the spleen, inserted 2 chest tubes, did a urostomy because the urinary system is damaged. He is still on ventilator and they will be doing a trach this week. They put in a feeding tube. They found out today that he has broken cervical vertabrae. He is in a coma still, they think it is partly medically induced. He does realize when there were people in the room. My dad and his wife were talking and Alex's heartrate spiked-so they think he is reacting to the surrounding noise. The nurse tried to limit visitors to just family and the wife said no . She said the firemen need to see him and that as long as they do not make noise, she thinks they should be able to go in. They are not doing anything about his ribs, pelvis, or lung right now. They are seeing how he reacts to the surgery and it is a wait and see to see what the next step is. The wife also told my dad that we shouldnt be guilty that he was coming to our house. She was glad it happened where it did where we had so many EMTs, firefighters, and cops..He is considered in critical condition still
The daughter is doing okay and may be released in the next couple of days..the niece is doing good as well...
Tonight, in my public speaking class, my brother wrote a speech about the events of this weekend. The entire class was quiet, he was shaking reading it, and i was crying in the back of the room. The entire family, firemen and ours, is having a rough time. I failed a test today in a class that i got a 97 and 100 on the other tests.. i talked to the professor and he hugged me and told me not to worry about it that i would still get a good grade...Im still not eating or sleeping very well.. My brother said that he cant sleep because he keeps hearing the little girl saying "please help me, i want to get out of here"
Thank you ALL so much for your thoughts and prayers..I will keep you all updated if you would like..We all appreciate it so much!
