UPDATE pg 5- 8 months later-what a difference!!

I will keep them in my prayers. This is so sad to hear. I hope they all make a full recovery.

Hi everyone-thank you so much for your prayers and good thoughts...
The phone has been ringing nonstop here, as firemen are constantly calling for updates...My dad went to the hospital this morning.
The dad made it through the night, apparantly got pretty bad over night..He is in a coma with massive internal bleeding, a laceration on either his kidney or spleen (dad cant remember which one), definte pelvis shattered, all ribs on the left side are broken, punctured lung, broken ankle...They do not think there is major head trauma..The daughter was taken to a pa hospital with her laceration on the spleen..They are watching her to see if she needs surgery..The other girl i havent heard anything else on except that she is stable...I hope to be headed to the hospital in a bit with my dad..the firemen seem to be going in shifts--these guys are very shaken up...im not gonna lie,im still pretty shaken up too..i appreciate all your thoughts!

Jen-

Thanks for letting us know about this tragic event and updating us.:grouphug: This family will be in my prayers.

How horrible :worried: .
Positive thoughts and prayers for this family in desperate need of healing.

:( They are all in my thoughts. I know what kind of family bond the police as well as firemen have and that part of the family is in my thoughts as well.

hi everyone-
I just got back from the hospital, so wanted to give a little update..
Everything is basically the same..The wife was in with the firemen and he is squeezing her hand when she talks and not wanting to let her hand go, so that is a good sign..He is moving his legs and they have decreased the oxygen a little bit..his platelet count is higher as well..
He will be having surgery tomorrow so i will update after that--thanks for any prayers

They will continue to be in our prayers and thank you for the update. You must be a bundle of nerves

I am so sorry. It is not your fault. Prayers for you, your family, them and their family, and everyone else involved-all.

Love,
Christina

another update-
They did surgery on him this morning..I dont know exactly what they did, just that they tried to do some repairs. Everything went well. Hopefully i will find some new updates after my dad gets home from work and goes to the hospital. Now its a wait and see type of thing...Please keep the prayers coming

Newest update...

My dad was at the hospital today talking to Alex's wife. Alex had surgery today to repair his kidneys, liver, took out the spleen, inserted 2 chest tubes, did a urostomy because the urinary system is damaged. He is still on ventilator and they will be doing a trach this week. They put in a feeding tube. They found out today that he has broken cervical vertabrae. He is in a coma still, they think it is partly medically induced. He does realize when there were people in the room. My dad and his wife were talking and Alex's heartrate spiked-so they think he is reacting to the surrounding noise. The nurse tried to limit visitors to just family and the wife said no . She said the firemen need to see him and that as long as they do not make noise, she thinks they should be able to go in. They are not doing anything about his ribs, pelvis, or lung right now. They are seeing how he reacts to the surgery and it is a wait and see to see what the next step is. The wife also told my dad that we shouldnt be guilty that he was coming to our house. She was glad it happened where it did where we had so many EMTs, firefighters, and cops..He is considered in critical condition still

The daughter is doing okay and may be released in the next couple of days..the niece is doing good as well...

Tonight, in my public speaking class, my brother wrote a speech about the events of this weekend. The entire class was quiet, he was shaking reading it, and i was crying in the back of the room. The entire family, firemen and ours, is having a rough time. I failed a test today in a class that i got a 97 and 100 on the other tests.. i talked to the professor and he hugged me and told me not to worry about it that i would still get a good grade...Im still not eating or sleeping very well.. My brother said that he cant sleep because he keeps hearing the little girl saying "please help me, i want to get out of here"
Thank you ALL so much for your thoughts and prayers..I will keep you all updated if you would like..We all appreciate it so much!

Jen, Thanks so much for updating us. Please continue to update us. :) They will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

:grouphug: Prayers being said for all of you.

Continued prayers for all involved :grouphug: . Please keep us updated when you can.
