Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Rachel's spinal tap was yesterday. As you have heard, tt was very difficult. They could not get a fluid sample so they had to puncture her about four or five times. Finally they had to do it under flouroscopy. She also got her PICC line replaced.
She woke up in a tremendous amount of pain. Even codeine did not help. Last night was horrible for her...she kept crying "Why me?" and I have to say that I agree. It sucks. Since she had to be kept flat, we had taken all the seats out of my minivan and slid a twin sized mattress in. I drove home the two hours from the hospital listening to her screaming in pain, then dozing, then screaming again.
She was not able to walk at all last night, but was able to walk a bit in the middle of the night. She was up several times last night but is asleep now. I'm hoping that when she wakes up her back will feel better, but the doctor said to keep up the codeine today along with motrin, and to keep her flat until at least later this afternoon. I was able to get another mom to drive my little one to school and another mom to drive my son home from Hebrew school later. Everyone has been great that way.
Please keep up the prayers. The whole thing is just not fair and I'm feeling sorry for her (and all of us) right now so I'm sorry if this post is depressing. But I want you all to know how much we appreciate the thoughts out there from all of you. It means so much.
