(AKA bubbleprincessmom member since 2002)
I'm posting an update for those kind folks on here who have asked for one.
We took the puppy for a second opinion yesterday and the vet says that because of a deformity with the leg bone under the knee that it is inoperable. He said sure the fancy vet could try but that it would be so painful as it would require breaking the bone in several places and pinning it plus making a new grove for the kneecap to sit on and that the knee would still constantly pop in and out. causing pain everytime it popped. He said she is not in pain now, in fact when he was manipulating her leg she was licking his face, not crying at all!! He recommended leaving her be as she is HAPPY and ACTIVE and adjusting to using three legs. Being small is also on her side. He was truly a dog whisperer, talked directly to Priscilla and told her to "go home and love on your little girl and just be special" That works for us! He actually cursed that the high priced vet said surgery or put her down, said it was (well we won't repeat that here!) He was truly an old fashioned, love the animals doctor, if you could have seen him holding her and talking to her (and pretending to talk AS her) you would have been so touched! And to top it off he didn't charge me a DIME!! I wasn't the only one in the office that he didn't charge either, heard a couple of other patients ask the front desk what they owed and they were told "its on us today". He was also able to pop her right knee back into place as it was slightly out as well.
Since I had also called the vet college and left a message for them about appointments a couple of days ago, when they called me this morning to speak about her I told the tech what this doc had recommended and she put me on hold and came back and said based on the problem with the bone that would be their recommendation too!!
Sarah will continue to blog and took down her donation link as it is no longer necessary but will still do the jobs she has lined up to pay the existing bills that her auntie paid for her and anything extra she makes will be donated to our local animal shelter which is a NO KILL shelter. So rentboysrock.(not their dis name but they know who they are)...I think you owe her an apology!!
Thank you to those of you who offered hope and suggestions, I was so distraught that I couldn't think straight. (I'd post a photo of the little miss but can't seem to figure out how to do it hmmm)
