I don't know how to multi-quote, but both you and Metro summed up my thoughts exactly.

Regarding Disney purchasing the Marvel rights...for Florida. As many people know, Team Disney Orlando seems reluctant to spend a decent amout of money on ANYTHING

That is why I think that its not something that will be planned soon, because not only would they have to buy out Universal's stake in Marvel, THEN they'd have to build an attraction that would make people "forget" how great the Spiderman ride was at IOA.

They've had 12+ years do that and haven't come close.

Yeah, I don't think Disney's purchase of Marvel ever had anything to do with adding the characters in its theme parks, as least that wasn't their primary concern. They saw the $$ the movies were bringing in and knew that Marvel has a gold mine of characters. Just MHO.

And you're right, Disney hasn't shown much interest in putting that kind of money into anything in recent years. As I said, I'm sure Universal has a contingency plan in case Disney suddenly makes a full court press to get the theme park rights back, but my guess is it will be many years before Marvel Island goes through any significant change.

So with Transformers going into USF, what could their new contingency plan be for Marvel (well, Spiderman)?

I think...when that day comes...Marvel will be rethemed as Gotham City and DC comics will take over. But...that day is still years away.

That was kind of my thought as well. Though they will need to buy off Six Flags to use DC comics, but I assume that would be chump change compared to what Disney will have to pay Universal...

I think DC and Universal could work out something since Six Flags doesn't really have any parks closer than the Atlanta area and I think Universal would be in an excellent financial position to seriously go after the characters...in Florida only of course.

Have I missed an announcement about Transformers or anything?
When I read Screamscape he seems to be talking as if it has been confirmed that it is happening.
I am unable to post links yet.
On the screamscape website says Transformers update.
Then there is a section about construction where Transoformers will go.

It is near bottom of the page. He says rumor at start but then refers to the site that will be transformers etc. I have noticed him do this a couple of times lately so thought I must be missing something. As I said he talks as like it is happening. Maybe I have just read it wrong :confused3

No, nothing has been announced anywhere in the parks for any of the expansions going on.

No, you didn't read it wrong, it's just the assumption most everyone is going with. Same for Harry Potter, people are discussing the Amity re-do as if it's 100% confirmed to be HP but as damo said nothing has been confirmed.

The only things that can be confirmed: HP is getting an expansion (Universal announced this). Jaws & Amity are under construction for whatever goes in there. The soundstage that used to hold Herc & Xena is a construction zone for whatever is going in there.

True, but HP is 99.99999999999999999999% confirmed...all that remains is the announcement.

Transformers is less confirmed right now...all we know is its most likely the same ride system as has already been done due to the construction happening...there's still a chance its another franchise...however, some sources started saying it was Transformers and singing another song quickly...

Even the Orlando Sentinel reporter who does local attractions news, Jason Garcia, posted the other day "Transformers" on Twitter, just a single word, then backtracked the next day saying that someone must have gotten into his account and posted it

Whatever it is, Universal is being exceptionally weird about it.

So, you folks who are in the know... Based on the current state of construction, do you think Transformers would be up and running by 10/13? Starting to plan next year's family vacation and my little boy is a big Transformers fan.
